is there a caped size and if there is could it be changed to about 60 mbs because my map files range from 3 mbs to around 55 mbs

Sorry there is a file size limit, and it can't be made larger. This is to protect Zymic against people uploading copyrighted files.

How does that work? Does the game server allow the users playing the game to download the map from an external address in-game?

what the server does is it takes my hosting site here turkeyscoop.vndv.com/hl2mp and it looks for the missing files that the client doesnt have and downloads them from the website instead of my pc so if the website doesnt have the missing files it wont dl them and if those files are important like the game maps the person gets booted off the server for not having the map and cant rejoin untill theres a new map that either the client has or the website has

so if i cant upload more than 20 mbs my other maps that are over 20 mbs wont be be downloaded by the clients so they cant join and then say bad things about my server sad.gif

This most definitely is not what Zymic hosting is for, this constitutes file hosting. We aim our hosting at individuals who'd like to host a personal websites. The .bsp format has now been removed from the allowed list and we will be on the hunt for anymore using the hosting in this way.

well this is the only way to redirect my server because file hosting such as media fire mega upload and other like taht give every individual file a new website instead of being in a directory

if you were to allow this then you would become popular since most game servers are on crappy pc's

i really cant use normal file sharing i can only use apache like servers (such as the one running on my server that every one can only dl at 70 kbs)
and these ftp server anything else isnt possible i humbly request you rething your statement please

i do not make any profit off of this or my game server
it is just a simply way of making everyones experience much better instead of waiting hours to dl a map from my pc

I don't understand why you would disallow the .bsp format. Running a half life server does not give me any profit. I do not mean to cause any trouble, but simply banning the bsp file format isn't helping anyone. If Zymic advertises 6GB of storage and a lot of bandwidth then you shouldn't discriminate for its purpose as long as it isn't breaking any laws. I want another admin's opinion on this situation as a company should not be ruled solely on one person. I want Zymic to reconsider its decision on banning the .bsp file format and any other formats used by game servers.

For a better understanding of how a half life server works:

Home Server (data and resources)
|
v
Modem (in my case 3000kbps download 300kbps upload)
|
v
Client side

By uploading maps to Zymic, it allows Clients to download maps much faster. Doing the math, a 55MB file, as turkey was having trouble with, will take the client about half an hour to download a map with all my bandwidth taken. With 2 or more people connected and downloading, the time increases exponentially. By uploading it Zymic, it only takes a minute or so depending on Zymic's upload speed and the client's download speed.

As I stated before, half life game servers are non-profit. You offer anyone service, but you discriminate against people trying to serve the community with a game server.

I really hope Zymic reconsiders its ban.

Sincerely,
RyanN

Well, as Bread has said, Zymic does not set out to support creating a micro server for yourself to play online games like Half Life. Zymic is there to offer personal website hosting.
Just to add to it, game scripts slow down the servers and are fault for a whole heap of the downtime seeing how they are very bloated and space consuming scripts.
I highly doubt it will be unbanned.

i dont really know what your talking about if i were to upload just only my bsp files the server just tells everyone to dl it from tehre tehre are not scripts running at all just the server doing something like this
oh you dont have the map go here -> and get it
tehre are no scripts running atal
the only scripts that run on my server are for my weapons and these run out of my pc and clients not your webhosting

What hes doing is that he has a game server and then hes using the servers here as a redirect for gaming maps such as half life 2 and team fortress 2.

So that when the server changes maps and the client doesnt have the map, it auto downloads it for them.

If your looking for a service that offers this i suggest you look up http://escapedturkey.com/index.php

I suggest an admin delete the link off his post, he has a vista iso there.

And also, this thread is pointless now, since bread has already spoken, AND jack the owner of the site has said that file hosting is not allowed, He has made news posts about it and everything. So there's you "other admins review" of this issue.

It's not going to happen, and what narzy was saying, you may NOT be running a script here, but your still redirecting lots of traffic to have them download large files, which will slow our servers down. Just because Zymic is a hosting company does not mean we have unlimited bandwidth.
