OK..I have been reading the forums for a while now and I am figuring out that you SHOULD have a limit
of 16 characters or less for database name including your host name?? or Just the dabase name after your
host name

ex: hilproductions_portfolio <- 8 characters without the hostname

ex: hilproductions_db <- 2 characters for dbasename and 14 characters hostname = 16 total...

Why am I asking??? well no matter what I do, I cannot connect to mysql using joomla install....

Yes...I have deleted and recreated dbase and usernames.....
Yes..I have checked and rechecked my setup with joomla....

I have noticed that I did create another database and when connecting using PHPadmin...Its NOT there....

any help is appreciated....thanks! blink.gif

At the moment it is restricted to 16 characters in total (including your site prefix and the username).

Use a single letter for the username for your best chance of it working.

Yes the underscore counts as a character.
so hilproductions_db is actually 17 characters. hilproductions_d is 16 try that. If that doesn't work you're going to have to create a smaller subdomain name

However, I do appreciate you guys helping out.....great Idea, just didn't work....thanks.

Two questions are you SURE your password is correct, and are you SURE you added the priveledges to your database and username in ZHCP? Maybe a screen shot of your ZHCP MySQL settings page will help make sure you aren't making another error.
