I know this is not really a current topic, but I think it would be interesting to discuss people's views on this
From my own morals, I think prostitution is disgusting, corrupting and an abuse of women. I am quite glad that its not legal where I live. But in a society that promotes freedom, why should anyone impose their morals on another?
Any thoughts?

It is legal in some parts of Nevada. ^.^ You can never get rid of it, you could consider it the oldest career in existence. I say legalize it, and tax it.

Here's a question: Should the "law of God" be the prosecutable law for all those in a country, even those who do not believe in God?

My answer to that would be no. Simply because the "law of God" may not be appropriate for everyone and may not be appropriate politically. When making things legal or illegal, you have to think of it as politically (because that is what it is), not morally or religiously because not everyone shares your moral or religious opinions. While not everyone shares the same political beliefs, arguing a point on a political basis has more ground than on a moral or religious basis.

Now as far as prostitution goes, my morals tell me it should not be legal because I consider it disgusting and pathetic. However, speaking politically, I think it should be legal provided it is appropriately taxed, regulated, and guaranteed safe for the prostitute and the customer. I understand that my morals are not the most practical answers for political matters.

Of course not. Well, imho I don't think it will be a good idea. Men will definitely abuse women and if we legalize it, expect that married people and some virus like HIV will increase.

And your proof of this is? The adult entertainment industry is one of the most heavy tested industries out there. Their actors are screened on a monthly basis. Those who test positive for any STD's are blacklisted immediately. If we consider prostitution to be part of the adult entertainment industry then your claim that cases of HIV will increase is completely false.

What you believe is right and imposing that belief on others are 2 different things. While I personally believe prostitution is wrong I also believe that it is not the role of government to tell people what they can or cannot do to their own bodies. If you start down this slippery slope of imposing your moral beliefs upon others it can only lead to bad things in the future. Which is why I say legalize it, regulate it, and tax it.

i say it should be legalized ...
If a woman wants to sell her body - Go for it, just pay taxes like everyone else.
For the people that have mentioned the "law of God" - Do you think these women or the people paying for their services believe in God?

Simple answer - no... still that doesn`t make them different and they should pay taxes same as all the other people

Anyway that just my humble opinion

Making prostitution legal would cancel the slave trade.

Yes I agree with you but there are some places that prostitution is legal. Like in Singapore, there is an area where prostitution is allowed and outside of that area is prohibited. I don't know the reason behind but I guess they are just very open minded and they think whether it's allowed or not, there will always be prostitution. So better make it legal in some area.

Prostitution is a victimless crime. There is no reason to make it illegal, IMHO.

Prostitution is the provision of sexual services for negotiated payment between consenting adults. So definite, prostitution is a service industry like any other in which people exchange skills for money or other reward.
