How to set-up forums for your website

Pick the forum that best suits youThere are many more types of forums but those are the top 3 that I like to use depending on the type of site and look I want.
Download the package, and make sure its a stable package not a beta one.
Unzip the package and upload it to your site in a new directory called whatever you want (possible /forum/)
Once you have finished uploading it all, you should go to your favorite internet browser and go to where you forum is (example.com/forum/)
It should lead you to the installation part. These 3 forums come with explanations on what to fill out but I will have screenshots and a explanation from
my own head up here soon.

Questions are welcome.

Hope my small guide was somewhat of help, probably not yet, but should be alot better when I start updating it with new and useful information.

Step1.Go into MYSQL managment and create, new database, and new user.
Step2. Find the files you uploaded belonging to phpbb, and you should find settings.php, open it with the editor
Step3. Put in your databse name and user name along with your password you just created in MYSQL.
Step4. Put in your URL ie: http://mysite.zxq.net/forum/install.php
Step5. Fill in the same information DB, ussername, password, and hopefully you should be on your way!.

Anyway hope this helps

And I will download the package and upload it to my site.

There are plenty of tutorials on the web. It's a little different than the other forums-you have to configure the settings manually using a text editor.

I think you need to go into this more and make it a little more detailed for the users that are new to most of this. It's an ok start though.

Jacob.
