Hello Zymic Members!

Just finished downloading my copy of Windows 7 Beta from Microsoft. Going to install it inside VmWare maybe tomorrow and post some screenshots. Below is a link for the official download:

Don't bother with VmWare. Do a real install.
If your running vista you can resize a partition and create a blank partition for windows 7.
- Follow this guide: http://www.vistarewired.com/2007/02/16/how...n-windows-vista

Once you've created the new partition just mount the iso with Daemon tools or similar mounting program and run the install. Save yourself a DVD and time, and have a real install of it.

I've been running it for the past two and a half days and haven't encountered any errors. Only thing that's bugged me so far is it won't shut down properly. I click shut down, it closes everything show me the "Shutting Down" screen and sits there. I've never let it sit longer than 3 minutes before I just hit the restart button on my computer. I've not lost any data so I figure it's finished shutting down.

I love Windows 7 so far. There are a couple little things they need to fix, like the text on the taskbar is "always" white. Even when you have a really light Glass color. And when a program is minimized sometimes when I click the task in the task bar, it won't restore itself, I'll have to click on something else then try to restore it and it works. Just minor issues, but nothing huge. No crashes and no bugs that make it unusable.

Try out Paint and Wordpad when you do install it. They've added the Ribbon (From the new Office suite) which in itself is rather dumb, but with that change came ALOT of new features. Wordpad is almost an alternative for Word. Doesn't have the advanced features but has everything I'd ever need.

I could go on and on, but I won't. I really like the new version. The best thing about it so far is it's better on RAM than Vista. But still not as good as XP I don't believe. Though apparently benchmarks say it's better than XP. We'll seem on the RTM version.

I am planning to install it dual-booted with Windows XP, just want to see how it works first. Changed my mind, using Virtual PC because I already had it installed.

Do you know how to resize a partition in Windows XP?

As far as I know the only way is with 3rd party software. I've only ever used PartitionMagic so I can't recommend any other software for it.

They say if you get vista after July 2009 than the update to Windows 7 is free. They say it might be around January 2010

They ended public beta downloads last week or somesuch. It is available on TPB and such.

I've installed it and it seems to be a step in the right direction.

I was excited to finally give it a try. I just haven't had time in between work and social life (not much time for social life now either, w/ all the work I've been doing). And now when I finally get a couple hours to do it, I go and partition my disk and all, then to find I can't even download it sad.gif.

I installed it in parallels when it first came out, was not impressed. I personally hate the whole aero aesthetic.

I really like windows 7, but it keeps crashing. With a blue screen, restarts itself etc.
It's got a load of great features, like the new pain, and wordpad.
It also has good compatibility. But I installed it on another hard drive just inacse something happanes I can go back to xp whenever.

Jetteh download it from a torrent and then you can still get a beta key here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7...a-download.aspx

I love the beta, I've not had any problems with it so far and have been using it as my default OS for a while now.
