What are you trying to do, and what error are you getting? The contents might also be helpful.

500 error probably means you've made a mistake in your htaccess. Is it possible to have a look at your code?

Hi, I am new and wanted to set up .htaccess and .htpasswd.

1) I created .htaccess and placed in the directory I wanted to protect : http://myweb.vndv.com/member/

2) I then created .htpasswd and placed in the same directory(Or should I put it in the root directory?)

My .htaccess file:
AuthType Basic
AuthName http://myweb.vndv.com/member/
AuthUserFile http://myweb.vndv.com/.htpasswd

require valid-user

When I tried to access the member directory, the authentication did pop up, but after I typed in the username and password, the box will not go away.
I cannot access member subdirectory.

Can somebody help me? My .htpasswd is in the form "user:password". Should password be encrypted?

Thanks All who will help me!

NB: http://myweb.vndv.com is just made up only. Please do not access it. But my problem is REAL. Pls help. 8-(

Yes, your password should be encrypted, this should help : http://home.flash.net/cgi-bin/pw.pl

If the username / password is incorrect it won't go away until you click cancel.

Hi there, I am new to Zymic, and I find it's features very attractive. I just want to ask: can I have my own custom 404 and 403 error pages using .htaccess? Thanks!

hi,

i uploaded my site. it's uuuq.com server. the site requires mod_rewrite.
here is my .htaccess

CODE
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?route=$1 [L,QSA]

the index.php is loaded correctly but when i type "daemon.uuuq.com/index" => this is same as index.php
The server returns http 404 error.

what's wrong with my .htaccess?

I want to add this:

CODE
AddType application/x-httpd-php .html
to my .htaccess but there is no htaccess file on my server, even when I search for it using hidden files.

Do I just make a new one or what?

If there's no .htaccess, yes. If it fails to make the file, there probably is a .htaccess, whether you can see it or not.

CODE
AddDefaultCharset utf-8

RewriteEngine On

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f

RewriteBase  /

RewriteRule (.*).htm.?$ $1.php [L]

#RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.([^.]+)$

#RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^([^.]+)\.([^.]+)$

#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^.*\.(zip|jpg|css|js|png|gif|rar)$

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^.*\.js$

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^.*\.css$

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !/js/

RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?hru=%1/$1 [L,QSA]

I uploaded .htaccess file to uuuq.com server. But rewrite just doesn't work. Could you please say what is wrong. It is working fine on local web server.
p.s. it seems that .htaccess is not enabled for my account. Because than i tried to put some garbage in it. it doesn't end with 500 error

Hi!
I have the same problem that TKF.
I've recently uploaded a site in uuuq.com and htaccess doesn't work for me either.
Does anyone know if htaccess is enabled in uuuq or not?
