i dont think it has sumthng to do with the files, i've tried installing joomla too and i cant add any modules or components either, i'm having the same problem. I also tried finding a workaround but sadly they all also say the problem is on the server, they wont allow us to upload files to the temp folder

Any component gives this error CHMOD 777 to the dirs and files.

I have the same Error :
Upload component - Upload Failed ERROR: Could not find an XML setup file in the package. [ Continue ... ] Upload component - Failed Installation file not found: After a lot of tests , impossible to install component / module or other thlings. Could you give us more rights ? it is a php.ini access thing furlopen needs to be changed
which means this host does not allow packages installs |

just manually install the components... (basically drag and drop in ftp)
