i have extracted the files from the zip properly, and have tried replacing the index file, but all i get on my site is code. why? what am i doing wrong? any help would be appreciated.

One alternate method you can use instead of FTP upload, is go to your control panel, open and edit form for the file (its normally an pencil thumbnail that you click) and copy and paste the HTML codes.

kinda sounds like your template uses CSS?

make sure that the index header has the correct path to your sites CSS file.

make sure all your files are there aswell. such as images.. and if it has a style.css make sure its called on your <head></head> tags.

probably post the link to your site ?
