Project title: TRCS
URL: http://trcs.info

I used to be a student for this school called the Renaissance Charter School. They recently got a grant for $200,000 and hired my company to work on their newly purchased server. The server is powered using cPanel, and Virtuzzo. Our job was to do the following.

Design
Design an overall layout for the site that will be compatible with all subdirectories. It must contain their knight logo and a right side bar with general quick information. In addition, it must be compliant with cPanel's webmail service (have a login script). Footer must contain a copyright info, with links to the pages.

Coding
The site must be coded in PHP and must be integrated into the server.

- cPanel theme must also be created to match the overall site layout
- must install horde mail services for cpanel
- code a cpanel login script to connect to WHM, cPanel, Webmail and their secure versions
- write a custom blog script that will help post latest news and information (max 5 announcements per page)
- Newsletter script must be written in php and installed. Must contain a admin panel
- The website code must be easy to read and modify.

So those were the general requirements (there were a lot more, but too many to list)
I did almost all as you can see on the site. I wrote the connect to cPanel script.
I just finished writing the blog script which was pretty difficult and I wouldn't have succeeded if I had not come across PHP E-Mail v1.3 by xire. I basically took the idea of get and post function from php. It uses databse information. Its not like wordpress where you can modify all pages and has a sweet admin page, but simply go to a certain link and post info, which will then be transfered automatically to the desired page.
To make the site very simple to navigate, I used one of php's best function called includes. What it basically does is tells the browser/server to get this file's code from this location (read tutorial here on how to use includes).

So please tell me what you think of my work. As the project leader, its pretty difficult to get ideas from those working beneath you since they also helped develop it. Its a $10,000 project so we need to do our best on it.

What I still need to do:
- work on a newsletter script
- code the layout to be compatible for wordpress MU
- modify the cpanel server login page to match site and cpanel theme
- write a secure, 1 time register, login script COMPLETED

Isn't this for the Review section?

Anyhow, the box on the right surrounding the form, is broken up.

The site looks pretty good. Make sure that the PHP scripts you are using are secure though.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I will surely notify you when this project is complete. I currently working on securing the overall site (since thats the most difficult part of it).

Please tell me where in the site is the right side broke. I would assume its the contact section since thats the only location where I have any sort of form; however, I took a look at it in FF and IE and they seem to look fine.

I posted an image, but I noticed (with IE) that the line breaks when clicking on navigation links, but if you minimize the page and reopen it, its fine. Don't know what causes that. Another thing I noticed also, and am not sure if you intended it for this, but when you click on a link, it doesnt tab to the 'active' or already clicked link. Ex: when you first visit, the Home navigation link has the orange tabed background, if you click on a different link it doesn't change. Just noticed it, didn't know if you were wanting that.

I am honestly not a big fan of Scan Alert. The school wanted majority of its content to be custom written. Its not really that hard to create a secure administrative panel, just time consuming. But thanks for letting me know of a possibility.

The broken lines are caused by the php script. I am looking into all my code to see the cause of that, but it's not really a big problem. The reason for me not having a custom/alternative active link is because I don't want it to change to a different color. The website is a site for a school and from observation, other educational sites do not use active links. Anyways, browsers do store your visited pages (unless you clear your history).

Do you know exactly what it does? lol (not to be mean)

All it does is just test your server for security... Not a like a software that you put on there. The only reasoned i signed up was for it to test my e-commerce server for holes, and for the nice HACKER-SAFE id.

Well since the school has a lot of money to kill, I'm pretty sure they'll have a security team on it. But thank you for that information. I will suggest it to them.

Just to keep people updated, I finished the admin panel section. Sorry I cannot link anyone there, but I am planning on creating a CMS based on the codes I used on this site. I will post more details later.

Looks pretty good. How about getting rid of that glow on the knight or just having a solid white glow 1-2 pixels with no fade out? Maybe change the text color of "The Renaissance Charter School" from a solid color to a gradient?

Well I have no say in the header any longer. The school made its choice and want to keep it that way. So I have to work with that. And that logo is the exact logo they gave me, with the glow
