My task is to transfer MediaWiki onto the hosting. Wiki is not latin. So the task is connected with well known encoding problems.
1) Approved way of error-free transferring is via custom dumper. Custom dumper accepts gzipped and bzipped2 dumps, but there's no coressponding php extensions here. 2) Dumper accepts unpacked dumps too. But 7Mb dump when unpacked becomes 40Mb. Too large to upload via ftp. 3) No way found to upload archive and unpack in on the server. 4) Let's see what we have with standard, error prone way. Some phpMyAdmin v2.11.4 found at http://www.uuuq.com/phpmyadmin/. To say it's extremely slow will be wrong. It's inoperable. Couldn't feast eyes with a page. 5) Found another phpMyAdmin v3.1.3.1 at http://www.uuuq.com/phpmyadmin-new/. It works, but extremely slow. After lotsa tries import started, but failed with "#1153 - Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet' bytes" 6) Dunno what database tool is at http://www.uuuq.com/phpminiadmin.php. It doesn't accept correct login (cheops_root - 11 characters) and correct password. So, six alternatives were tested failed. Is there seventh way which will work? |

Drop by IRC and I'll import it for you.
phpmyadmin-new usually works for most imports, could just be because it's a large database. Have you tried using the staggered option in phpmyadmin-new, so it picks up from where it left off. |

Drop by IRC and I'll import it for you. I'm sorry, but my English is very poor. In chat I'm afraid you will not understand me at all phpmyadmin-new usually works for most imports, could just be because it's a large database. It succeeded at last. But above mentioned encoding trouble happened Have you tried using the staggered option in phpmyadmin-new, so it picks up from where it left off. Of course, I wouldn't venture at non-staggered import. Is there any way to utilize custom dumper script? It's proven to work correctly. Dumper only needs either unpacked dump or PHP extension (bz2, bzip2 or zlib). I understand that nobody will set up the extension, but could you unpack uploaded dump for me? Thanks in advance, Cheops |
