Hello,
In order to run a smooth service we cannot host really popular websites, after all our service is free and designed for the personal and small business user. We are proposing to set a limit to the number of requests per 24 hours. Non database driven website: 30 requests per minute; 43200 per day. Database driven website: 20 requests per minute; 28800 per day. Users averaging over these numbers for at least 7 days will be suspended, but not deleted. We will assist you in transferring to another host, ideally a paid host. This proposal is not final and posted in this forum to see peoples views. |

I think this will cut down on the number of phishing, spam and un-wanted websites on Zymic.

Not sure if I'm right, but I think this is to cut down on the number of web hosting accounts created in a 24 hour period. If this is cut down some, then there might not be as much of the un-wanted junk.
I'm probably wrong |

This targets popular websites using too many resources, websites which have been online for weeks. Not sure how this would cut down on signup's, especially since new sites don't generate much traffic.

Sorry, I must of understood wrong. What I thought it was, was to limit the number of websites you can register in a 24 hour period.
Very sorry for my mix up. |

Please don't make it '20' per minute but perhaps '28800' per day instead.
This is because some sites may need the traffic for 4 hours a day but don't need much traffic for the rest of the day. I don't think I get more than a few hundred hits a day but I think my idea is clear. |

How about setting 1 account request per person a day. This way it will cut down server abuse (by a little, which is better than nothing) and remove some lagging.
QUOTE Please don't make it '20' per minute but perhaps '28800' per day instead. That would not help stop the server abuse much. There could be situations where 1000 accounts are created during one minute which will cause the server to lag. Setting a minute limit is possibly the best thing to do for this situation. |
