I have a problem up loading my web site to 99k.org
I download FileZilla FTP and I set up the FileZilla FTP with Site Manager as per " This video explains how to use the FileZilla FTP client to upload/download file to and from your web server. From http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yr_u2iKfAt0 I opened the server and I could see the web space, I tried to up load my site. I could see the site folder on the server. But 31 files failed to transfer, my site index..htm had loaded so I tried to view the site in explorer to see what I had missing but what I got was " Zymic Free Web Hosting If you are the website owner: Congratulations, your Zymic Free Web Hosting account has been sucessfully created! You may now replace this file (index.html) and start uploading your website. To do so either use our file manager in your control panel or use FTP. " I went back into the server to delete the index.html which I did now there is still a file called ftpquota and my site folder. But when I went back to view the site I got the about message again I went back and deleted the site folder and tried to reload again this time the FTP program would only load 5 files and the loading info said Status: File transfer successful, transferred 6,461 bytes in 10 seconds Status: Starting upload of C:\Downloads\Older-Voices-forum\AGENDA 4-10-2010.htm Command: PASV Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (67,220,217,230,92,233) Command: STOR AGENDA 4-10-2010.htm Response: 150 Accepted data connection Error: Connection timed out Error: File transfer failed Status: Resolving address of older-voices-forum.99k.org Status: Connecting to 67.220.217.230:21... when you get a 403 error it means that you do not have index.html or index.php and do not use Index.html or Index.php or home.html or home.php

Hi Older-Voice,
I take it your website is: http://older-voices-forum.99k.org/. If this is correct - it is the Root Directory, or also known as the Root folder of your Zymic Free Ad-Free Web Hosted Account. In this "Root Directory" is where your index.html file must reside (be uploaded to). It roughly appears as though you had previously, with success, uploaded an index.htm file to this location earlier but had failed to enter in the full address to view the index.htm file, e.g., you most likely entered the address of: http://older-voices-forum.99k.org instead of entering the full address of: http://older-voices-forum.99k.org/index.htm to view your page. Explanation: By entering in the short version address (http://older-voices-forum.99k.org) you called forth the Zymic Free Ad-Free Web Hosted Account generated index.html file - as it (index.html) resided in the "Root Directory" as well as your index.htm file you uploaded. As you may know there may be only one index.html file residing in the "Root Directory". At Zymic the server setup allows for the automatic call of an index.html or an index.php to be a default homepage when the short version address is employed from the Browser Address Bar. Currently, When I enter in your address (either the long or short version) I get the Zymic Free Ad-Free Web Hosted Account generated "403 forbidden" page. As previously mentioned above in the thread QUOTE when you get a 403 error it means that you do not have index.html file residing in the "Root Directory". What this means is that you now have to upload your FrontPage 2000 index.html file to the "Root Directory" (hint: where the .ftpquota file resides). Hope this helps you out. |

it needs to be index.html NOT index.htm Sorry it should have been html not htm When I made the site, the pages and the index were htm. But I renamed all pages in Frontpage 2000 and then I tried the site and it still worked. Wash my hands yesterday and I could not do a thing with them? Thanks |

Hello Older-Voice,
Things we've never done before can sometimes appear as a daunting and disheartening task. There are other avenues to explore here at Zymic Webmaster Resources than just the ways (the video and the Post here) you have already explored, I would ask that you consider them before walking away from something you had labored for with intent of gain or accomplishment. Here are a couple of "Reads" that may assist you in overcoming your obstacle with getting your FrontPage 2000 work up and published to your Zymic Free Ad Free Web Hosted Account with FileZilla:

Thank you for replying to me Zpcs
I Looked at 17 and below, and saw the all the files web files were no in one main folder so I tried to upload them but not in the main folder where all files were, I tried to view the site with Internet explorer but it did not work. I copied the uploaded file back on my computer and it still worked with out the files below. There were 531 files successful transfers and 9 files failed transfers, I tried to upload them again as below but they just transferred from successful to failed and back again. => => =>Failed Transfers 26a) If there are any failed transfers simply select the "Failed transfers" "Tab" (located at the bottom of the FileZilla Application/Program) and "Left-mouse click" it. 26b) "Highlight" (Hold the [Ctrl] Key down and "Left-mouse click") the failed transfer files and then "Right-mouse click" on any of the highlighted and select "Reset and requeue selected files". 26c) Select the "Queued files" "Tab" and "Right-mouse click" any one of the files and select the "Process Queue" option and the file transfer should begin again providing you are still connected to the account via FileZilla. See below the listings Critical file transfer error Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (67,220,217,230,133,110) Command: STOR service.lck Response: 553 Filetype not allowed. Hi Older-Voice,
Okay, Let's just try to get your homepage uploaded at the moment so we can at least get rid of the "403 forbidden" when a visitor arrives at the site and we can take it from there. The failed transfers can be dealt with after a bit, okay. So what needs to be accomplished is just uploading, via FileZilla, the index.html to the "Root Directory", alright? Edit: 12:16 PM (CST): A partial site is better than no site at this point. |

My site address is www.older-voices-forum.99k.org I have loaded my index.html both in the site folder and out the site folder next to ftpquota, both did not work. I even loaded all the site files out the main site folder where ftpquota is, this did not work either as seen in your tutorial 26 I tried http://older-voices-forum.99k.org http://www.older-voices-forum.99k.org http://older-voices-forum.99k.org/index.htm http://www.older-voices-forum.99k.org/index.htm Non of the above worked |

Hi Older-Voice,
There is only one way for an index.html not to display to the browser when it is uploaded to the "Root Directory" - and that is: It (index.html) is not in the "Root Directory" (older-voice-forum.99k.org) folder. No matter what the condition in content the file (index.html) has contained within it - any type of out-in-the-open normal text (like what you are reading here) - the text will be displayed from the index.html file to the browser. It appears your site (older-voice-forum.99k.org) currently has only one file in the "Root Directory" - .ftpquota. Upload your index.html (not index.htm) file into the site so that the index.html (not index.htm) resides with (and below) the .ftpquota file in the FileZilla Remote site - Filename / window - there should be nothing else within your site - no other folders, no other files, no nothing else but those two files. Once you have accomplished this, your index.html (not index.htm) file will be viewable in a common browser - guaranteed!. If you fail to get the file uploaded to the "Root Directory" (older-voice-forum.99k.org) the "403 forbidden" will appear as it does now. If you get the "Welcome from Zymic. Replace this index.html file with your own." view in your browser - you have uploaded the Zymic Generated index.html file from when your Zymic Free Ad Free Web Hosted Account was created (if it appears then upload your index.html file and overwrite the Zymic index.html file in the process of the upload). Once this has been accomplished and your index.html is residing in the "Root Directory" (older-voice-forum.99k.org) folder and you (along with others) can view it in your browser you can now upload the remaining contents of your site folder on your computer (not the folder itself residing on your computer) to the "Root Directory" (older-voice-forum.99k.org) folder (in other words: if you look at the contents of your computers site folder the same and identical structure of the internal(s) of this folder should and must be reflected identical to the contents displayed in the FileZilla Remote site - Filename / window ...with the exception of the .ftpquota file in the "Root Directory" (older-voice-forum.99k.org) folder). That's it in a nutshell, Older-Voices. I'd like for you to be able to accomplish this task. Everything is here for that to occur. If you are still having a problem don't hesitate to ask or inquire of any issue pertinant. Looking forward to veiwing your index.html file (no matter its' condition or content). The only thing left before proceeding further is for you to provide a screen shot(s) (picture) of your FileZilla Remote site - Filename / window of the "Root Directory" (older-voice-forum.99k.org) folder so that a somewhat more clearer understanding may be obtained by someone like myself as towards what is being accomplished by you Older-Voices ...I am afterall a Zymic Community Member and not privy to any behind-the-scenes activity. Hope this helps you out, Older-Voices. |

Thanks for getting back to me Zpcs
I think I have found the problem " Load your index.html file and overwrite the Zymic index.html file " " You have uploaded the Zymic Generated index.html file from when your Zymic Free Ad Free Web Hosted Account was created (if it appears then upload your index.html file and overwrite the Zymic index.html file in the process of the upload). Once this has been accomplished and your index.html is residing in the "Root Directory " As with the other sites I uploaded the site in the folder made by Frontpage 2000 like I did in my free space, and it did not work. I read the notes on the Zymic site and it said there should be only two files ftpquota and my index.html so I deleted the Zymic Generated index.html file, at that time the index.html was an index.htm, later I found it should have been html until I rename it in Frontpage. Is this the problem, if so, where can I get another Zymic index.html file so my index.html can over write it. I have just deleted the site folder and just left the index.html and the ftpquota and it did not work. This is what I am saying now You want me to up load index.html, then load all the other files and folders that were in the Frontpage folder but not the folder its self, this I have already tried. So it must be the over writing bit But what about the Zymic Generated index.html file |

Hi Older-Voice,
Right now upload your index.html file to the "Root Directory". If you are asked (prompted) to overwrite a file (an index.html) then please overwrite it. I'll be waiting to see the index.html file you will upload now. Edit: 1:28 PM (CST) I use the "http://older-voices-forum.99k.org/index.html" as an address to enter in to reach your sites homepage and I recieve the "404 Error". Still waiting on your upload of your index.html file to the "Root Directory". Edit: 1:36 PM (CST) You were here and you failed to respond in any manner consistant with your want for some unknown reason. Then you left without any reason given ...I'll fathom that as an attitude of you're outta here for this and I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor(s). Thank you for getting back to me Zpcs, I had a poke around after your last but one posting, tested after wards and it still did not work and I have not been in since. After reading your last posting I went and tried and yes the home page worked. ????????? So I thought I will put the other files on, but when I tried to get on the web space using Site Manager as I did before I got the message Connection attempt failed with "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server". Error: Could not connect to server Status: Waiting to retry... Status: Resolving address of older-voices-forum.99k.org Status: Connecting to 67.220.217.230:21... Status: Connection attempt failed with "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server". I Googled it and one site said it was Zonealarm, which I use, so I closed down Zonealarm still the same. I tried the Network Configuration it did not work it read Connecting to probe.filezilla-project.org Response: 220 FZ router and firewall tester ready USER FileZilla Response: 331 Give any password.
