Hi there,
I have installed wordpress with no issues, however I am trying to install a theme via a .zip file, and when I try to do it it shows the following error: Unable to create directory /www/zzl.org/b/a/r/barratest/htdocs/blog/wp-content/uploads. Is its parent directory writable by the server? Am I able to install through FTP? I am installing the "weaver" theme. Thanks! Penny |

Have you chmodded the uploads folder to writable through FTP?

I created new folder to the server 'uploads' : .../wp-content/uploads and changed writeprotection 777. I needed to exit Skype as well but then I was able to upload theme. But next "To perform the requested action, WordPress needs to access your web server. Please enter your FTP credentials to proceed. If you do not remember your credentials, you should contact your web host." After tyiping Hostname,Username, passwd -> 'Failed to connect to FTP Server xxxl.org:21 Any idea how to proceed? Thanks! |

dont use the wp uploader as zlib and php ftp is disable just use your ftp client to upload your un-zipped theme to wp-content/themes

I managed to upload the unzipped file to the wp-contents/themes.
Went to Appearance on the Dashboard Activated the new theme and it worked like a gem I am hapy now. I can atleast get the free domain and free website now. Then you can activate the new theme in your dashboard via Appearance -> Themes. |

Sounds like you got it figured out. I was going to say that the other thing that comes up is matching the theme to the Wordpress version. I've had some very odd incompatibility issues in the past - both with themes as well as plug-ins.
