hello
Learning graphic design online from home without spending a fortune is now far more feasible than it was a few years ago. There are several online colleges offering graphic design courses but the problem with a lot of these are they are very expensive. If you can’t afford or haven’t got the time available to study graphic design at college or university there are now cost effective options.

Today you can learn anything online, from how to raise a dog, how to trade the stocks, and up to graphic designing. I see the advantages and disadvantages, you get free stuff, sure. But some people can’t learn by themselves, they need to be learned by some one else hand by hand, and doing it online might be tough.

There are a lot of techniques that can be learned online that you would implement in graphic design. You can easily run a Google search and find tutorials written up, as well as how to videos on sites like YouTube. However it’s difficult to grasp the whole experience you would get if you actually took a course. Another thing to note is that being a “self-taught” graphic designer is probably going to earn you less respect than say someone who went to school for it. On the other hand if you do up a good portfolio to show potential clients it won’t matter how you obtained your techniques.

That's not a given. There's actually a vast world of information and help available for free through the internet today. I know I took a program in computer design back in 1999, due to a workplace injury. I learned more through independent study on the internet than I did in that highly expensive program. The program was just a mill.

Excellent point. In the graphic world, the portfolio is the key. You can go to whatever schools you think are prestigious, but if that portfolio doesn't contain good work you're not going to garner any respect.

I think there is a certain hands on quality that can only be learned in a proper schooling setting. Graphic design isn't only about knowing Photoshop or Illustrator, it's about understanding how people think, and how to create aesthetic as well as functional pieces. If you want to be a true designer, you need to go to school and be taught. Even books can't do that for you, though may server for great inspiration. However if you are only looking to know the programs, then the internet is probably the better place for you.

Your first step would be to familiarize yourself with how to operate a computer system. It is indeed possible to learn graphic designing online. There are several websites available online that would train you to become a professional graphic designer. You will require patience and dedication. Go on google.com and type "graphic design tutorials" or "photoshop tutorials" , "adobe illustrator tutorials", "corel draw tutorials" . you'll find several useful links to train you thoroughly. Good Luck!
