Web Hosting Forum Rules

Before posting in the web hosting forum you must read and agree to these rules. These rules are here to help keep the forum organized and ensure we have the information we need to assist you with your query. Failure to abide by these rules may result in a warning, temporary suspension or life time ban.

Contents:
  1. Before you even think about making a topic
  2. What to post if you do make a topic or post
  3. Misuse of contacting admins
  4. Sensitive data
  5. Disclaimer
1. Before you even think about making a topic

Many users who need to ask a question or get assisted with a problem seem to be attracted to the "Create topic" button without any prior research.

a) Use the search feature
The chances are the question you are going to ask has already been answered by the thousands of previous posts we have had. Use the advanced search feature located at: http://www.zymic.com/forum/search.html&mode=adv and select the web hosting forum from the list or ZymicSearch.co.cc.

b.) Official Pinned Topics
There are many official topics which assist with mainstream problems and questions. Use these if your question fits into one of these categories:

FTP connection problems: http://www.zymic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=227
Disallowed file types: http://www.zymic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=235
Downtime issues: http://www.zymic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1222
Htaccess status and issues: http://www.zymic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=586
Request features: http://www.zymic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2127
Report a site: http://www.zymic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=925
Script compatibility: http://www.zymic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1280
Login problems: http://www.zymic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3006

c) Browse around first
Take a few minutes to browse past threads and posts, because your question may have been answered already, although we recommend to use the search prior to this.

d) If there is obviously an active problem ...
If there is a particular problem with our service make sure you check our announcements located at http://www.zymic.com/forum/index.php?showforum=2 as we often post mainstream problems there.

Use a bit of sense; if there is obviously a current problem and lots of members are "complaining", don't be one of those people and create an identical topic about the issue - we will already be aware of the issue, you will just be clogging up the forum.

2. What to post if you do make a topic or post

First see rule 1 rolleyes.gif

a) Be descriptive
"My site doesn't work!!!!!", "Some images don't load sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif !!!!", "I CAN'T LOGIN TO MY ACCOUNT PLEASE HELP ME mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif" are common examples of posts made by members - these posts are not welcome on our forum.

You need to be a lot more descriptive than this, outline the problem in detail, explain any specific information, list your website address, if the problem has always occurred or has only started appearing, etc.

b.) Post your URL
This problem really annoys us! So many members post a problem without listing their website address, how can we possibly help you if we don't know your address? Live examples will help us to see the problem in real time and ensure your problem is fixed in the shortest amount of time possible.

c) Post in English and use suitable grammar
Zymic is an English only forum, we do not support posts written in other languages. Please post using suitable grammar, for example: "when i try n load my syt i cant seem to login cuz it says 404 not found so like wot sud i do ti fix? PLZ HELP ME!! thx" is not acceptable. "When I try and load my website located at http://site123.com I can't seem to login because the page 404's (not found); what should I do to fix this error? Thanks" is not as rude and is much easier to read.

You agree to implement standard English protocol within your posts, this negates the usage of aolbonics or any other textual based 'internet slang' except in situations where the instrumented 'internet slang' is delivered in jest.

d) Be patient
Due to time zones and other reasons it can take up to 24 hours or more for us to reply to your post or topic so please be patient. Do not post twice in a row or complain that there hasn't been a reply.

3. Misuse of contacting admins

The reason for this forum is to allow members to communicate within the community and to get assistance from staff members.

a) Do not PM admins without our permission
Unfortunately due to our large user base admins can't personally reply to each PM. Please only PM an admin if they specifically state you to do so (e.g. to send password or sensitive data).

b.) Do not email admin@zymic.com
Again the same reason as above; despite the fact the contact page states do not use email to get assisted for a hosting problem, people still do.

c) Do not report a thread or post just to get attention
Using the report feature sends a notice out to all admins and mods on the forum. This is incredibly annoying and when misused to gain attention, we will most likely ignore the request and give you a warning.

4. Sensitive data

The forum can be viewed by anyone, even people who are not Zymic members.

a) Do not list your password in a post or topic
If you do so people will be able to login to your account and do what they like. Only send passwords over PM to admins or forum mods only (not normal members you do not trust!).

5. Disclaimer
