I'm a new user. I tried to post an introduction to "I exist" (yesterday) but there was no submission button on the page so I couldn't (even after reloading the page a few times, it wasn't showing up). I tried changing around my options on the "My Controls" page but it made no difference whatsoever. I was also not able to save my location or interests to my profile, getting an undefined error (a red box saying there was an error but not saying what the error was).
Today I see a "post new topic" button but I wasn't able to enter anything into the text box until I switched to raw html format. It occurs to me that a lot of people would give up at the point where they found they couldn't submit any posts. It might not occur to anyone to try tweaking their settings, or they wouldn't know that doing that could have an effect. If you have a lot of registered users that have never posted anything, this could be why! It also occurred to me that perhaps I wasn't allowed to post until someone had reviewed my registration and decided that I was a legitimate user and not just another spammer - fair enough, but it would have been nice to know this was definitely the case ... a wee note about it in the confirmation signup email would have been useful. |
