An animated gif is a low quality resolution made up of many or a few images. You can easily create them in Photoshop with your animation window!

Hi Safiqurrahman,
An Animated Gif is as Robinwkurtz mentioned. I'd like to further the mention here:

Gifs are notorious for low resolution, as a "*.gif" file is normally comprised of 2, 3, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 or 256 colors. This is a far cry from the millions of colors used primarily today in "*.jpg, *.png, etc." files for the Web. Gifs were the choice for low filesize (in kB's) images in the early days (80's and early 90's) of the World Wide Web when modems were peaking at 1200, 2400 and 9600 kBS.

An Animated Gif is two or more images sequenced to make a sort of movie (ever hear of "claymation", i.e., Mr. Bill, Gumby - animated gifs are on the same order of creation , but not on film). Some animations are purely made of "Frames" with completely different/disassociated images while other animations attempt to mimic image movement by closely associated similiar images (but an ever so slightly manipulated image from a same previous similiar previous image compiled together, such as the Roberval Balance below).

As you can see (in the above example of construction) there is 414 Animation Frames using 4 Colors (of a maximum 256 colors) on a Transparent background (Transparency) with Diffusion. All together there is 414 Layers in ImageReady 7.0 - each having a subtle difference from the previous and next Layer. Each Layer is in turn placed into an Animation Frame that has Timing (0.1 seconds to an occassional 0.25 seconds).
The "Balance" below is all 414 (individual Layers) Frames placed sequentially to give the effect of a small Balance image in gif format (animated). It is set to run three (3) times then cease until called again (by a page refresh).

This Roberval Balance example was created by me a few years ago and consumed many hours.

Hope this gives you a better idea of what an Animated Gif is.

It is quite easier than photshop. But it doesn't have that much application which photoshop had.

Hi everyone,
A type of GIF image that can be animated by combining several images into a single GIF file. Applications that support the animated GIF standard, GIF89A, cycle through each image. GIF animation doesn't give the same level of control and flexibility as other animation formats but it has become extremely popular because it is supported by nearly all Web browsers.

Animated gif is a type of image file, which plays some short and low quality animation on scree. The file extension is *.gif . You can create your own gif image using Image Ready not Only Photoshop. If you have installed Photoshop on your computer then you'll find Image ready too on your pc, because these two are bundled! By the way to create a gif image you have to create the layer [Step images] in Photoshop and then jump to Image ready. There you will find some way to animate it! Don't forget to create different layers.
You can also create a gif image using Flash for a very small animated file!

What is animated GIF ?

Graphics Interchange Format is a bitmap graphics file format, 8-bit color (256 colors) to reproduce the true color image. It is actually a compressed document, the LZW compression algorithm for encoding, and to effectively reduce the time of transmission of the image files on the network. It is one of the image format that is widely used in network transmission.

An animated GIF is a graphic file type that is composed of many different images on top of each other. These images are compressed and work together, creating movement, and give the appearance of a mini movie. GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format.
