Hi,
My name is Joe Abes and I am a student at Boston College. Our final exam entails our creating a single web page with two sections 1) a section where show off our HTML skills 2) a question and answer section regarding what we learned in class. Honestly, I don't know what to do in terms of the header and footer code I also have to learn how to embed a YouTube Video into my Site I must make a link that opens up in a new window. Honestly, I am just scared because I don't know what to put before or after the main body of my text - We learned HTML at W3, but I don't know CSS or how to use it. Please let me know of any good reference sites. Thanks and nice to meet everyone, Joe |

Hi Joe Abes,
A little something to allow you to teach yourself, being an assist web to go along with your college instruction(s). Joe, there are many ways to develop a website and this is about as near basic an HTML, with a touch of CSS, as a web gets. More could've been added to the CSS to make cleaner the HTML Source code... but then that'd be like taking your test for you. View the Source code and study what it is - that should give you insight to aid your learning. Hope this helps you out. |

Thank you. Just so you know - we are so knew to this, my professor says we scour the internet, use the forums, etc to learn. All we were required to do was go through the HTML 4 elements, and I am trying to learn the rest on my own. That's good advice, I will take a look at CSS --- I have a poo poo platter of code going on. But thank you sir for your response. Hope I didn't startle you too bad Joe and I hope I can assist you in to the Webmastering areana. Sorry to have overwhelmed you with this... Let me make it up to you by providing something (hopefully by Monday - things to do and places to be stuff) a little less and more appropriate to the clarified position. I'll put something together more tutorialized for the absolute novice (as I know three (3) years ago when I was fortunate to have arrived at Zymic Webmaster Resources I knew virtually nothing of valid HTML Coding - and now I still really know nothing compared to the real wizards... but I manage in my informal education to endeavor to persevere). In the meantime please take a look at this tutorial I had prepared a while back. The tutorial will provide a glimpse into the future for some aspects that you should find possibly interesting being a novice. One thing that especially helped me when I arrived here at Zymic was to "create written (or, typed) notes of what I was doing and how I went about doing what I was doing and what the end result became of the doing" when learning the fundamentals of valid web page coding. This act of "writing of what was going on" provided me with reinforcement of the material I was covering, creating, being successful at and mistakes made (so to not do them again). This reinforcement was probably the best thing I did when starting out (and - yes, I still do it with the CSS, Javascript and especially true to it with learning the PHP and MySQL now). The act of reinforcement I speak of is "getting the brain to accept more readily the knowledge I'm teaching myself" which comes from me teaching (exercising) my brain to retain the information I want to learn (knowledge) so that I may more readily understand the knowledge as well. This reinforcement comes from the touch, sight, speaking and hearing senses and last, (but not least) through the end result of the input to the brain - the slight headache throbs around the temples and forehead and back of the head.

Well, we all gotta start somewhere. My first webpage was in 1996. It was a BSB fan page. LOL!
