Hello, My first question is about the scroll bar on the right side of a webpage. How do you add that in your Design. I am using Adobe Flash Pro CS5. DO you use the Scroll pane, UIScrollbar, or is there another way of doing this.

Second, I have two files created in Flash Pro, one is a Flash intro and the second is the actual site. What I like to do is have the intro play when the user first goes to the site and when it is over go on into the pages of the site. I have a skip button so the user can skip the intro if they want. How do I link these together, or would it be better to just go on to the pages then have it on the main page so they can watch or not.

Concerning the right-side scroll bar:
  • Normally all you have to do is make sure the content in the <body></body> is a greater than the display screen capability of your Monitor Display Resolutions' height. This can be accomplished by adding all kinds of <br> to the Source Code of the web page (this gives you the Browsers right-side scroll bar).
  • Another avenue to get a ride-side scroll bar is the use of an <iFrame></iFrame> and make sure the content in the <iFrame></iFrame> is greater than the height of the iFrame (this gives you a right-side scroll bar within the web page).
  • Yet, another avenue is to use a jQuery UI Accordian (looks like an iFrame but isn't really) (this gives you a right-side scroll bar within the web page).
These are just a few suggestions ... many ways to accomplish something - just depends on the designer/developer of the page. If you use an application/program to generate a web page without you personally writing a Valid Code just remember What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG).

I'm not Flash familiar with your second question - therefore no real answer from me on that one. Hypothetically: If I had an Introduction video (I'll call your Flash a video, not a page) I'd place it in a <div></div> to contain it within the web page and in another <div></div> I'd place the "Skip" link to the real home page having a target="self" aspect to fold over the Introduction as it begins (or during) it playing. The kick here is that 99% of the people go to a site for relative information of what they are seeking not to go to a site and have some Introduction video take time to load and then view before they may notice a "Skip" link - therefore the best practice would be to have the actual home page be your index file for the web site and have a link on the home page that is highly conspicuous and attractive to lure the visitor to view it not as an "Introductory" video but a "Familiarize you about us" video. People have a tendency to make their decision about a site within 3-5 seconds and a web that appears with a video up front makes them leave rapidly not wanting to waste their time with fluff stuff when they seek hardcore information on the subject they went to the site expecting to receive - leaves a bad taste in their mouth so to speak and they won't (most likely) be back.
