I have that same problem. I need to CHMOD a few of my directories to 777 but I won't let me, it changes them back to 770. Why is this?

Note to all users. Remember that setting a file permission to 777 or 0777 is granting access to the public to the entire file. Furthermore, it turns on read, write, and execute permissions, and turns off the hidden, archive, and system attributes. So do be careful when setting your permissions. Do not CHMOD a file to 0777 or 777 unless requested by the script.

But...what about changing owner/group? ( No talking about Permissions ). I know with FileZilla you can change File's Permissions ( 644-777 etc ) but those values are valid for the owner specified in file ( 2001 or 190932 etc and this is what I need to change )
Reason: I have a simple file counter.txt, if I created it using the PHP script within directory then PHP can make further writings to it. fwrite, fopen work good ( its owner=2001 and Group=2001 ) but if I create this file on my desktop counter.txt and then uploaded to my directory then the owner is 190935 different and consequently fopen() fwrite() fail ! Even having permission set to 644 on both files the difference is in the owner...I need to change it back to 2001. Is this possible? |

The correct permissions on folders are 755
and on files 644. Nothing more nothing less!! |
