Who really cares how old you are?

I mean I just like people that are mature.

So if you are like 15 but act older you are cool with me.

If you are 15 and act like a kid ... Well I am not going to use nasty language =]

It's not a matter of whether you care or not, but sometimes it's just nice to know who your talking to. I personally always get an image of what the person looks like, so it's cool to see if I was right or not, thats why I like this thread and the pics thread. It's the same as when your reading a book and get an image of what one of the characters looks like.

Age doesn't overly matter. But on a reptile forums that i'm a mod on, i recently had to keep an eye on 8 of the younger lot on there. They were all friends and inviting eachother into a msn convo, then going on the forums and going out of their way to slag off certain members. Half of these kids were around 15, and all swore blindly that they're mature and act like adults.

I don't know what the topic is meant to be conveying

as do i...

im 17 and i run two companies which one of them is based up on a 4-way partnership. The thing is age really doesn't stop you if you have the talent to do what you want. There will always be a barrier, but thats only for the first 18 years of your life.

I think that age does matter in certain degrees.

Explain what you mean...does age matter with alcohol, sexual consent, drivers license, etc...there are so many aspects. I don't really think age is the factor, I think it is a matter of 'responsibility'. In most cases age does not reflect how responsible you are. Your personality reflects your responsibility. You can't go around stereotyping folks, just by how old they are.

It does matter, because our perceptions are shaped by what we expect - and from younger people that's a lower level of maturity. Of course, most people have the required intelligence to realise when a particular person does not fit the pattern and they can exclude them from their preconceived notions (either an immature adult or a mature child, either one), but I would say that until you have shown you deserve the distinction there is going to be some level of prejudice, and that might well act against you.

Agreed, age does have some benefit but then it does start to work against you. Possibly the "best" age to be in reality is between 30-40, but that may simply be borne out of my own perceptions.

Well, if I'm communicating with people online, age isn't important to me. What really matters, in my opinion any way, is their personality and how mature they act. To be simple and keep the post short; I'll hang out with a mature 14 year old. I won't hang out with an immature 18 year old.
