I've had an idea for a project I'd like to start but I don't have the skills to do it... and because of my age, I don't have the money for it either.

It's an "open source", community driven/built search engine. No insane goals like all those "Google-Killers" out there. Just to see what we (define 'we' how you want) can do working together compared to a large search engine... Yahoo! and Google. It could turn into anything. Not exactly open source but more of... everyone contributes to the website, starting from scratch. How's that idea sound?

I'm trying to learn more coding and graphic design but I'm very impatient and am intimidated by seeing that I have 50 more concepts to go over... so I just like to keep the ideas, imagining myself being able to code and building it by myself. I just haven't done anything about it... I've been wasting my time doing nothing so I decided I could learn from experience rather than from a manual.

If anyone is interested in starting a project with me please do pm me or respond. I don't even know if it is possible but I'd think I'd at least see if I could get the idea to someone and talk about it... go over the concept.

Thanks,
Luke

I didn't really want to post that so people couldn't rip the idea off but I guess I can trust everyone here... anyone wanna work on the idea?

Thanks,

If you dont have any skills, and no money, why wouldn't someone just steal the idea and partnership with someone who could bring something to the relationship?

Never believe that. I was earning thousands at 14 years old from web design. Never have that attitude or you will get nowhere.

Sounds too generic, what would make it stand out from all to the other offerings out there?

Thats why I was scared at first of putting the idea up... and I'm guessing that you were a lot more talented than I am!!! I don't have too much talent!

What other offerings? I'm not trying "compete" with google and yahoo or anything. No one else has done this before, unless I missed it somewhere... where are the other offerings..?

Bread - it's not specifically focussed on one topic... it's just a broad idea that could turn into anything. It could just start from the idea of a search engine and turn into anything at all. Designers, Coders, anyone can contribute to it... discuss ideas, features that could be added and then coders can code and designers can design! ideas can be brought together and created all in one spot... think of it like this. Everyone gets together on a forum... discuss ideas of what the website could have... then we build it. (we would be everyone... that wants to help out) My idea just evolved into a whole new concept while I was typing this smile.gif The one issue would be people stealing the ideas...

Sickness - I pm'd you smile.gif

Oh right, a lot of open source software is written like that, a series of contributors make up the finished article, though most have a clear idea to what they're writing.

I've got a better idea, but before shared my idea I want to find some partner, with coding knowledge. I know the php, xhtml, css, and msql database.
