Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's database server is down.

* Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you're unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

All information is correct, my database name are there 13 characters, my database username 7 characters and my database password pass 12.

The only thing that I was not the domain of the page (vndv.com)

Ps. Mi english is very bad, 14 years not to give more T_T

Can you login to phpminiadmin with the created database account?
Tyki
Nope. Just tried it and it just keeps on running and doesn't finish loading

I'm having the same problem. I can't log in phpminiadmin either. Nor was Wordpress 2.6 able to install. Database error connection.
It could be the server problem or a Wordpress new release flaw. I'm going for the latter. Lots of people on the Wordpress forums are having trouble too. >_<

Yes I did have problems with WP 2.6 in my other webhost. It's got something to do with a database upgrade. I don't know what version of PHP and MySQL is required for WP 2.6

Well it says on the Wordpress site that the requirements are:

To run WordPress your host just needs a couple of things:

* PHP version 4.3 or greater
* MySQL version 4.0 or greater

Your version of PHP MySQL 4.0.24 library is different from that your server version of MySQL 5.0.27 library. This can cause unpredictable behavior.

This is the problem?

Even if you run the last stable version of Wordpress (2.0), the required php for that is still at least version 4.1

I tried upgrading the php myself to the newset stable version 5.2.6 by downloading from the php site . According the the PhpMyAdmin documentation, you're supposed to download the tar or zip file kit: I downloaded php-5.2.6.tar.gz from http://us3.php.net/get/php-5.2.6.tar.gz/from/a/mirror but now i don't know what to do with it.

The documentation from PhpMyAdmin says to (1) untar it and then (2) put it the document root. I'm not sure how to do either of these things!

Got it to installed!!

How??? It still won't work for me. Not even Wordpress 2.5.1 works >_<
Tyki
Yeah got it to install but can't seem to login after that....probably did something wrong. So I'm gonna try reinstalling it and see what happens and I'll keep you guys posted.

EDIT: Got it up and running login in and everything. Now its just a matter of fixing the main page (blank page) Seems to the be common problem in the Wordpress support forum

EDIT 2: Got It!!!

To get it to install simply change your database name and username to something shorter (Thats what I did)

This is a common error throughout the WHOLE MySQL system. Everyone is using a (or many) really long names. Confine it to one or two letters and you will be fine.
Also, check [EMOruffino's Test Server] to see what is compatible and what needs working on.
