I was trying to install drupal model Ubercart which contains some "*.cif" files. The ftp server refused to accept these "*.cif" files.

Well as of right now I don't know how fast the Admins will be getting to the list of filetypes. If you ask very politely in the IRC chat an admin MAY be willing to add it to the allowed list for you if you simply cannot wait.
