Hi there,

I am a complete newbie here. So I created an account with Zymic and created a new web host account : electronicsdiscountshop.vndv.com

However I do not want to use this URL for my website... so I clicked on "Add A Custom Domain Name" and added the domain I want my website to be on : www.electronicsdiscountshop.com

However when I upload both from the FTP aswell as from the online "File manager" found on the Zymic account control panel the "index.html" which I am trying to upload is being uploaded to : www.electronicsdiscountshop.vndv.com
and not www.electronicsdiscountshop.com as I wish it was doing. sad.gif

What am I doing wrong? How can I resolve the problem ?

You have to buy the domain from an external registrar, such as Go Daddy, Optinom, etc.
Applying a domain that you have not purchased will not work.

After buying a domain, changing the nameservers, and applying it to your website, you then upload files to your electronicsdiscountshop.vndv.com site. After you do this, you will be able to access your site at both electronicsdiscountshop.vndv.com and electronicsdiscountshop.com.

You still upload to vndv.com but you access your site at yourdomain.

You set up your domain using a CNAME which uses name servers.

BTW I am using a free domain.

And also domains may take upto 48 hours to change.

ye i have bought the domain already... and changed the nameservers from godaddy interface...

@harbino : "And also domains may take upto 48 hours to change."

I think that is my problem as nameservers can take up to 48 hours to update themselves... and I bought the domain and updated the name server and also tried uploading to the site in the time frame of 3 hours or so..

I will wait until tomorrow (so that the 48 hours would have passed) and if it doesn't work I will seek further help...

thanks for your help wink.gif
