@lex
Greetings to all,

I must say that Zymic is quite impressive as a package, for free web hosting. I was even thinking of switching to a payed account, but I still have one problem. FTP... wacko.gif

I have the following domain: aaight.vndm.com

With the FTP username specified as being “aaight”

My FTP data for FileZilla should be:

Address: aaight.vndm.com
Username: aaight@vndv.com
Password: ********** = same as the one which I log in with

I try to connect via FTP with FileZilla, and I receive the following:

“23:04:16 Status: Resolving IP-Address for aaight.vndv.com
23:04:16 Status: Connecting to 207.210.86.252:21...
23:04:16 Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
23:04:18 Response: 220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [privsep] [TLS] ----------
23:04:18 Response: 220-You are user number 86 of 250 allowed.
23:04:18 Response: 220-Local time is now 11:05. Server port: 21.
23:04:18 Response: 220-This is a private system - No anonymous login
23:04:18 Response: 220-IPv6 connections are also welcome on this server.
23:04:18 Response: 220 You will be disconnected after 2 minutes of inactivity.
23:04:18 Command: USER aaight@vndv.com
23:04:18 Response: 331 User aaight@vndv.com OK. Password required
23:04:18 Command: PASS *****
23:04:47 Response: 530 Login authentication failed
23:04:47 Error: Could not connect to server

With using just the “aaight” user name, FileZilla:

“23:06:36 Status: Resolving IP-Address for aaight.vndv.com
23:06:36 Status: Connecting to 207.210.86.252:21...
23:06:36 Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
23:06:42 Response: 220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [privsep] [TLS] ----------
23:06:42 Response: 220-You are user number 82 of 250 allowed.
23:06:42 Response: 220-Local time is now 11:07. Server port: 21.
23:06:42 Response: 220-This is a private system - No anonymous login
23:06:42 Response: 220-IPv6 connections are also welcome on this server.
23:06:42 Response: 220 You will be disconnected after 2 minutes of inactivity.
23:06:42 Command: USER aaight
23:06:42 Response: 331 User aaight OK. Password required
23:06:42 Command: PASS *****
23:07:02 Response: 530 Login authentication failed
23:07:02 Error: Could not connect to server

Both connections were made using the passive connection option.
Regarding FileZilla, I can see a clear pattern here, that of an “incorrect” password. Could there be another password for FTP access, different from the one with which you log in with ?

2. Connecting via FTP with Core FTP Limited Edition, I receive the following:

“Welcome to Core FTP, release ver 2.1, build 1568 (U) -- © 2003-2008
WinSock 2.0
Mem -- 1,834,480 KB, Virt -- 2,097,024 KB

An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

With using just the “aaight” user name:

“Resolving aaight.vndm.com...
Connect socket #740 to 69.25.27.171, port 21...
Can't establish connection --> aaight.vndm.com:21 @ Tue Jul 22 23:20:56 2008 (10054-38)
An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

Regarding Core FTP Limited Edition, I have to make the following conclusion: the server doesn’t seem to like my IP address, so this could be due to the fact that I am from Romania.

One more thing should be mentioned. Access of the FTP interface works like a charm with Mozilla Firefox, doesn’t work with IE 6.

My IP is: 89.37.146.202.

Hope the information stated above is coherent enough.

If someone had the same problem and resolved it, it would be wonderful if it can be related.

Thanks in advance,

There is actually a dedicated topic for FTP issues.

Regarding Filezilla, the correct username is aaight, so your second attempt should have worked.

To get this far, you already have to have 2 passwords - one to get into your Zymic Control Panel, and then one for that specific hosted site. The correct password is the one for the site, not the control panel. If you're already using this one, I don't know what's wrong.

Thanks, but I already did.

In my first post I state that I have made 4 experiments

1. FileZilla with aaight@vndv.com username
2. FileZilla with aaight username
3. CoreFTP with aaight@vndv.com username
4. CoreFTP with aaight username

In the second experiment, in the FileZilla console appears:

"23:06:42 Command: USER aaight
23:06:42 Response: 331 User aaight OK. Password required
23:06:42 Command: PASS *****
23:07:02 Response: 530 Login authentication failed
23:07:02 Error: Could not connect to server"

In the forth experiment, in the Core FTP Limited Edition console appears:

"Resolving aaight.vndm.com...
Connect socket #740 to 69.25.27.171, port 21...
Can't establish connection --> aaight.vndm.com:21 @ Tue Jul 22 23:20:56 2008 (10054-38)
An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."

Basically, the server just closes my connection.

Are you sure users with IPs from Romania are not restricted ? rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

Btw, I just uploaded 23 files via your http service of file uploading. Imagine having to upload hudreds of little files, as is the WordPress interface comprised of.

So, any other solutions ?

Thanks in advance,

@lex I have the same problem here and I am from Singapore.
Sometimes connection closes when it's still uploading files.

ALSO: the Cpanel uploading 3 files at a time? That works well
but files and empty directories (folders) cannot be deleted in
Cpanel, can't be deleted via FTP either.

Please advise - what can be done next? Thanks in advance.
