As it is, we can't send emails from our website. That's fine since it was for security of the server. But if you don't want your visitors to be of inconvenience and be able to send you private messages, you can read them from your own website (wordpress.) For me, that is just what I've wanted so I've asked around if there's a way to let visitors leave a private message through wordpress by leaving a message on the database, or better, on a flatfile. I was told to use Tracking on cforms plugin. Here's my result.
I'm not a techie but if you're interested, here's how:
1. Download and install the cforms plugin for wordpress.
2. Click on "cformsII" and then "Global settings"
3. Look for "Database Input tracking." You only need to check the "Enable Database tracking." I could never use the second one. Then update your settings. The plugin would insert 2 tables into the database.
4. Configure you contact form and create a page for it. Try it out. Afterwards, go back to cformsII and click on "Tracking." You'll find your message there.
The drawback to this is that you won't be notified of any new messages. So you'll have to check every once in a while. Second, as I've said that I'm not a techie, but I know having a large database would slow down your website so you need to delete your past tracking messages. Or you could always save them.
I'd like to have a techie advice if this is good for the database and that it won't mess up the database in the long run. Advise please? Or that it's not a security risk to the server. Thanks!
