Global warming is becoming more serious now! Please do what you can to help!
Bread
Turning your computer off and unused light while not in use is a good start.

I don't really do it for global warming reasons, I think we're already doomed. Saves on the electricity bill though.
bezz

Cell phone chargers use energy while plugged into an outlet with or without a cellphone plugged in.
Tom
Global warming is not man-made, there, I said it.

As Bread mentioned I still turn off my PC at night as well as all other appliances, also turn lights off when not in use etc. but that's purely for economical reasons.

i'm with Tom on this one..

For those interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_op..._climate_change (summary: the IPCC thinks there's a >90% probability it's our fault)

Not usually keen on linking wikipedia for contentious issues, but in this case it's fairly well vetted, and has sources attributed.

EDIT: and for the other side: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientists_op..._global_warming

johnnny howard dooesnt care about what we have a threat against aussies are the most like ly to suffer this fate first guys
but in time... we shall alll suffer it shalll we not? we must fight against this recycle be proper humans not waste our world away
like money

If you don't think it's man-made, read this:

all i know is that if global warming happens, we will have another ice age. thats what im afraid of. But would this ice age fix all of our problems? at least i know my PC would love it. but it still a scary thought.

Tom You said global warming is not man made.

green house gas's? not man made?

gas for your car? fume's comeing out exausts can cause global warming

i say go bio diesel or bust to help prevent the happening of global warming....

aerosol spray cans

not debateing it im just stateing some facts...
EMOruffino
actually, toyota came to my classes and brought some of their new hybrids, and with that super car that has 500HP and uses less exhaust then a fag, i mean pretty cool.

also they say their working on a car that will run from NewYork to California on one tank of gas.
Colin
I could easily modify a car to go from cali to NY on one tank of gas, one big ass tank of gas that is wink.gif

lmao was thinking the same thing then i scrolled down and saw your post

..i saw come college kids stroll through my town 1 day down here in cali. im not sure i think they where from berkley. with an old VW Van going from resterant to resterant gathering veggie OIL ....or was it grease i dont remember fully but it was freaking awesome so many ways to conserve gas. and they come up with a genius IDEA like that.

Yeah...I remember seeing something like that on some Mtv commercial

I swear I am not doing a very good job at turning off my computer and unused light. :|

Better ways to make gas because..
  • We pollute with gas.
  • We are running out fast.
  • Its not cool to die by ice.

Nuff said.

I don't believe its us causing it. The fact is the earth is always changing whether we carpool and turn out computers off at night or we drive v-8 muscle cars and leave our computers on 24/7. I do the same as tom for the same reasons. Nothing lasts forever, even the sun will eventually die out, then where will we be?

ps: im not hating on muscle cars
Dwayne
I don't care for Global Warming, plus, I believe the Military uses alot of electricity, so me turning off my lights and unplugging things, wont help.
Alex
Ziprock, hopefully some other terraformed planet wink.gif. The Sun's death isn't the more worrying future possibility, what is currently quite popular is the idea that the universe's expansion will continue to accelerate, spreading out the available energy to such an extent that it can't form matter any longer because of the laws of thermodynamics. The only viable solution I can see is to somehow encapsulate a small area, and keep it at a fairly high energy density - but not being a theoretical physicist I'm not sure on the feasibility of that.

Anyway, back on topic, I turn most things off - but not this box since it's running some services like zbot (zIRC's factoid/stuff bot). When I'm asleep all the peripherals go off though.

complicated and interesting biggrin.gif
EMOruffino
the earth is just "renewing itself" apparently on the history channel they said this has happened 6 times!?!?
Mephiles
And don't forget, we live in the 21st century. In the last ice age, no one could coupe, but we have central heating air conditioners. We might be able to survive better.
Cmain
Central air is not going to help you when you have a 1 km thick sheet of ice over your head. biggrin.gif

Anyhow, there are many global disasters that could happen. Global warming could have many other impacts on humans including the increased spread of infectious disease. My thoughts on whether Global Warming is influenced by humans are that I surely think that humans have had some impact. Whether humans have actually caused this to happen, I am not sure. I'm more interested in the reversal of the Earth's magnetic field. Should be fun times. wink.gif
EMOruffino
your right cmain, ahead is a glorious time.... i'm just glad i wont be around to see it, whats the prediction at least another couple hundred years?
XyberForce
Onwards To Mars! No, seriously. If we were able to synthetically terraform Mars into an earth-like planet, then we are saved. I hope. Otherwise, I heard that 600 MYA, the worse ice age closed all around the equator. Shut.

Hmm, I'd be a hypocrite if I were to say that I do everything to avoid contributing to the global warming issue, but when I'm conscious about it, I do make some effort.
EMOruffino
the way im starting too look at it is, what can i do? nothing...
Paranoid
My belief is different from all the replies on this thread.
First of all, if CO2 was an issue...would the problem already be here?
Second of all, Americans are stupid. The price of oil goes up, and what do we do? We dont change our lifestyle at all, people just pay the ridiculous price and drive the oil companies more...thats not right.
Third of all, We are only stressed about Global Warming now because its starting to take its toll. We didnt predict this in the future, and now scientists are saying "Oh shit!, we screwed ourselves!"
Fourth of all, If you really cared abou Global Warming, Turn off your computer, get rid of your credit cards...get rid of your central air. Get rid of all the modern commodies we are used to, and go live in a hut in the middle of the forest eating wildberries....until your screwed over by the people that dont care.
Sad that this is even an issue, suck it up and take whatever happends. Yes the next few decades will be fun.

Go here http://www.myfootprint.org/
Its a site that tells you how many planets you would need if EVERYONE lived like you do...fill out the survey and see how much you pollute the earth
Stop bitching in this forum and take action to do something about it...You lil' lazies. Zymic community, I challenge you to do this.

Tell me why my heat bill is what it is. It's a big money grab like they tried with sun spots scam 20 years ago. Before global warming it was global cooling. Before it, warming and cooling before that. The problem with people is we spend too much time in front the TV. It's turning society into TMZ nitwits.

See, now that I did not know. Even if it does not have a little light on it?
Colin
I have a habit of unpluging all electronics when I go to bed...and if I don't need to use webcam I leave it unplugged also, I don't know if unplugging webcam helps but it doesn't hurt tongue.gif
XyberForce
Wow! Good job guys you're really making a difference![/sarcasm]

Nobody can stop global warming. Whatever happens will happen.
Drake14
People complain too much. Most people are too reliant on energy to change on their own. It's gunna happen, and everyone knows it.
