Global warming is becoming more serious now! Please do what you can to help!
Turning your computer off and unused light while not in use is a good start.
I don't really do it for global warming reasons, I think we're already doomed. Saves on the electricity bill though.

Not usually keen on linking wikipedia for contentious issues, but in this case it's fairly well vetted, and has sources attributed.

actually, toyota came to my classes and brought some of their new hybrids, and with that super car that has 500HP and uses less exhaust then a fag, i mean pretty cool.
also they say their working on a car that will run from NewYork to California on one tank of gas.

I swear I am not doing a very good job at turning off my computer and unused light. :|
Better ways to make gas because..
- We pollute with gas.
- We are running out fast.
- Its not cool to die by ice.

As Bread mentioned I still turn off my PC at night as well as all other appliances, also turn lights off when not in use etc. but that's purely for economical reasons.
I don't believe its us causing it. The fact is the earth is always changing whether we carpool and turn out computers off at night or we drive v-8 muscle cars and leave our computers on 24/7. I do the same as tom for the same reasons. Nothing lasts forever, even the sun will eventually die out, then where will we be?

Ziprock, hopefully some other terraformed planet

. The Sun's death isn't the more worrying future possibility, what is currently quite popular is the idea that the universe's expansion will continue to accelerate, spreading out the available energy to such an extent that it can't form matter any longer because of the laws of thermodynamics. The only viable solution I can see is to somehow encapsulate a small area, and keep it at a fairly high energy density - but not being a theoretical physicist I'm not sure on the feasibility of that.
Anyway, back on topic, I turn most things off - but not this box since it's running some services like zbot (zIRC's factoid/stuff bot). When I'm asleep all the peripherals go off though.

Central air is not going to help you when you have a 1 km thick sheet of ice over your head.

Anyhow, there are many global disasters that could happen. Global warming could have many other impacts on humans including the increased spread of infectious disease. My thoughts on whether Global Warming is influenced by humans are that I surely think that humans have had some impact. Whether humans have actually caused this to happen, I am not sure. I'm more interested in the reversal of the Earth's magnetic field. Should be fun times.

My belief is different from all the replies on this thread.
First of all, if CO2 was an issue...would the problem already be here?
Second of all, Americans are stupid. The price of oil goes up, and what do we do? We dont change our lifestyle at all, people just pay the ridiculous price and drive the oil companies more...thats not right.
Third of all, We are only stressed about Global Warming now because its starting to take its toll. We didnt predict this in the future, and now scientists are saying "Oh shit!, we screwed ourselves!"
Fourth of all, If you really cared abou Global Warming, Turn off your computer, get rid of your credit cards...get rid of your central air. Get rid of all the modern commodies we are used to, and go live in a hut in the middle of the forest eating wildberries....until your screwed over by the people that dont care.
Sad that this is even an issue, suck it up and take whatever happends. Yes the next few decades will be fun.

Global Warming is the effect of peoples not-so-good treatment to Mother Earth. Now, its payback time. if we lived like a million of years ago, i think we will be living a much healthier life. Anyways, since its already here i think what people can do is just to manage their trash, be pollution free, save energy, be mother nature friendly. clean and green!

I think that there is no way around the phenomenon but what we could do is to prevent its worsening for the future generations. I mean, it is already out there and we cannot do anything to fix it but save for the future. Or, it could take awfully a very long time for things to go back to normal. Remember the time when the ozone layer was the talk of the town and how using stuff producing cfc could punch holes in it, well that event is not a problem anymore but we still have to be wary for it not to happen again.

hello all,
Global warming is the continuing rise in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans. Global warming is caused by increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, resulting from human activities such as deforestation and burning of fossil fuels.[2][3] This finding is recognized by the national science academies of all the major industrialized countries and is not disputed by any scientific body of national or international standing.
