For a template that is not coded yet, I think it's a little bit plain.
I like the scrollable 'Some of our members' idea though.
I'll think about some ideas for you later today.

I feel like throwing up in my mouth. It is dull and boring and it doesn't even go together.
Check out others templates and see what "trends" are in to help better your skills.

Show some decorum! You could of put that so much more appropriately.

Yaveo, it's a good start, but definitely needs work, it's quite generic and there's a lot of white space, the logo does seem a little bland, so maybe add some spice to that, the designers in here I'm sure will offer some tips / advice for that.

Hmm, a little exaggerated. But it gets the message put there.
Again, check out the current "styles" that go well and are well incorporated.

yeah, it will do when i'm done. i was gonna make a few diff versions and then see which i think looks best. plus once users have started signing up when its online it'll probably start to look better with all the 'user generated content'

Well OK, he is a mod and shouldn't talk like this but Bread did mention he shouldn't speak as he did and should be nicer.

I will say it, when i do not like a design, i usually never post because hurting the feeling of someone is something i hate to do. And if i do post, than i try to help as MUCH as possible by adding things he might need to change.. colors... ...

Narzy is good at designing he made me a layout ages ago for $30 or $40 i can't remember never got round to paying him and getting the psd. But yeh this is what he made...

Yaveo, I like the idea of what you have put together but needs quite a lot of work.

I would make the top login form smaller, the text and the boxs.
I would also make the Vimbu speach bubble, the image box and the hi guest also smaller and more top right hand located.
I would make the right menu more obvious, and make the "Take a tour" box less like an advertisement and more fit into the style design of the template.
The Blurb content "Vimbu is a new social..." < that bit, make that smaller and centered to the left content area.
Also your place holder image for the "Some of our members" doesn't do the site justice, maybe use a different image that helps. All different user avatars, so I'm not thinking "Is that from south park" inside i'm thinking about the design?

I also don't understand the GOBETA button? What is that for?
The footer is nice and the general layout of things is nice, just needs spiced up a bit.

Smaller is better to Everything is quite large.

ON TOPIC:

I don't think the deslign looks that bad... Just needs a lot more content in it and needs to be cleaned up a bit. I really like the logo
