So this is my first website that I have made using Dreamweaver.

It is currently uncoded as I have only just made the home page, but after some slight problems which included a bug where the news button would only appear after you have refreshed the page, it seems to working fine now.

As I said the links don't work because it is unfinished but it has a hover image on it.

I will be adding a logo onto the top but for now I am leaving it as text.

What do you think?

Website

It is a website made to release games, software and other media that I make. Although I don't really know full programming yet, I have made some games using game creators, but I hope to learn something like Visual Basic or C++ and go into professional making.

The stuff I make is freeware, but some stuff will have added functionality if you pay for it. I would add a search feature but I don't know how to code one... dry.gif

Would it also look better if I columned the home page's writing?

I may also add some stuff on the right hand side of the page, sort of a poll or something if I can.
Jacob
I do not like the buttons and the rollovers are not all that noticeable to me.
You may want to re-colour your site to make it more colour appealing.

i agree with Narzy, since you are in 'gaming' you should also add some game image that you made to your site, it will make it look more creative and also show some of your work.

Use a little bit lighter colors because the dark feels like you are in a graveyard (sorry).
harbino
What is it you don't like about the buttons?
Jacob
The very unfashionable grey and black. Make it something uber exciting and unseen before (that also looks decent).

I shall think about what to have and see what I can come up with.

EDIT: Which nav bar image would you like to see used?

Numero Uno:

Number Two:

Numéro Trois:

Nummer Vier:

Or shall I just leave it as it is?

BTW the colours on the previews above will be different as I will colour code the sections.

HOME = BLUE

GAMES = RED

SOFTWARE = YELLOW

MEDIA = LIME or some nominated colour wink.gif

Try some less harsh gradients. Almost any intense color to black on a small scale looks horrible. Make the gradients subtle, more on the lines of what you have currently.
MrTouz
Well, i have to agree with Cmain here, lets just say your gradients are ... 1995 windows gradients ? tongue.gif
Its like old style gradients... lets say if you want to use gradients these days... adding a little GLOW (for your gradients above) will probably make it look nicer... i mean its too badaboom ! hard to explain...
the blue you are using is to hard and plain...

I really suggest spacing up the buttons on the site, and not using to plain colours but more over adding gradients but not hard ones... ones that spread and make it look more clean.
Also i suggest using more 'gaming style' colors !
wozzym
add more exciting graphics. more "gaming like"
harbino
Examples of gaming colours?
MrTouz
depends what type of games...

http://www.ea.com/

Choose different games and see their colors and how they are made.

I made 3 gaming sites over my portfolio :

ARE with NFS Specially made for the new NFS prostreet
ARE FPS Specially made for FPS games such as COD / ETQW / CSS...
UG Gaming Really random, see its not really gaming related but more over an open site... better for media gaming ....

The sites i made are really basic sites... can really be improved but you see the concept?
harbino
Well its basically any games, but I'd prefer and darkish theme.
