I have a question about setting up PHPBB3, I have all the files needed on my site, but when I go to install it, the "Files and Directories" are unwritable, but I was able to upload all the files (like.. yesterday), so I thought the "read-only" problem had been fixed.

CODE

Files and Directories
Required - In order to function correctly phpBB needs to be able to access or write to certain files or directories.
If you see “Not Found” you need to create the relevant file or directory.
If you see “Unwritable” you need to change the permissions on the file or directory to allow phpBB to write to it.

cache/: Found, Unwritable
files/: Found, Unwritable
store/: Found, Unwritable

I am new to setting things like forums up, so let me know if I'm thinking about this incorrectly, like if there is a setting I just have to switch or something.
All help is welcomed and appreciated smile.gif

The server is working fine. Have you changed the file permissions yet?

Change the permissions on the following directories to be writable by all (777 or -rwxrwxrwx within your FTP Client):
store/, cache/, files/ and images/avatars/upload/.

Again, I'm somewhat new to this, so I'll assume that I have not changed any permissions, at least as far as I could tell. To be honest, I'm not sure how to change permissions.
And thanks for the quick reply biggrin.gif

Another problem tongue.gif

I can't seem to connect to the database I created for my forum.

CODE
Could not connect to the database, see error message below.
Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 111

Also, could it be because I have no idea what to put for:
Database server hostname or DSN
DSN stands for Data Source Name and is relevant only for ODBC installs.

I put "vndv.com", am I wrong?
DJPazze
DSN = localhost wink.gif
