Your username/database name is too long. The maximum, including the sitename and the _ is 16 characters. This actually means that jingalalanetwork is too long.

The solution is to make another site, eg jingalala.vndv.com, set up the db ect onthatsite, and then connect to it from your jingalalanetwork.vndv.com site.

glad i checked here. as i have also just recently installed a php/with an sql DB, and was receiving the same error... thorugh "interpreting" the Error message, I also was (hoping not) that it was a maximum field reached error for signing in... *sigh* I have already uploaded (which took all day;) my complete sight, and *really* didn't want to have to start that all over.. . . my question is, ..

would one be able to simply create a new 'username' that is shorter, as long as the maximum Username with (site), dosen't exceed that 16 character limit?

I will try that, nonetheless, cause my "sitename" i was using was 14 characters.. with a username of 8 characters, maybe i can just change the sql username to 2 characters, or something in between? Any suggestions? I wish i would have seen a notice about this Prior to creating the SQL account.

THANKS for any reply.

Cheers,

If your site name is 14 chars or less, you're fine, as sitename_a (I mean a, a single character) is 16 chars or less. If your sitename is 15 chars or more, you have a problem, but there is a solution. Simply create a 'dummy' site, with a name less than 14 chars, and set up your database on your dummy site. Then write the scripts for your main site, but connect to the database on your dummy site.

Awesome, great advice, thank you!

I was thinking i could do the "single character username" thing, .. i never thought of just creating a 'dummy' site to use the SQL with..

then, just use that to connect to.... NICE JOB! THANKS!

Will get on that as soon as applicable..

Glad I could help. This has been suggested before, mainly for people with very long site names.

Well, not really that one, as although it is very long, the vndv site behind it could be short.vndv.com, which would be fine. But supercalifragilisticexpeialidocio.vndv.com... Is a completely different story!

I don't know how you expect to get emails, I know I wouldn't ever email you just because I wouldn't want to type that out. And it's such a hard word to spell. I know that everyone can't spell it, so you'll be missing alot of emails, unless you email people first.
