I just spent the past 3 hours trying to upload and install my Wordpress blog on the free hosting. Yes I know it's free hosting, however I have never seen an ftp or webserver as slow as this free one. Thanks, but no thanks, i'd rather download Xampp and host it myself with a no-ip domain. Just a warning to anyone else that doesn't want to spend a ridiculous amount of time setting something up that should take 5 minutes. Good Luck with your hosting.

hosting your website on your own computer is fine, but honestly you will probably have just as many uptime problems unless you use linux. And anyways this service is getting better, just the new server seems to be nothing but problems.
Honestly I'm not sorry to see you go though.

I am also new to Zymic free web hosting as well, and I thank them for giving me an opportunity to set up a free account.
I am situated in Australia, and uploading and downloading through ftp, to my web space, is a slow and very disjointed affair. When transferring, whether it be up or down, it keeps starting and stopping and is quite slow.
Will the speeds improve at all, or am I going to get the usual "It's free web hosting! What do you expect?" replies.
Thanx

Well, basically yea. You get what you pay for. Zymic is without a doubt, the best free web host out there. Unfortunately, recently, the vndv.com server has had a few problems which has turned a few users away from the service. Although, I can guarantee you, if you do stick it out, you will be rewarded with an excellent service.
Take it or leave it, it's up to you.
McPhatt: What part of Australia are you from?

Also, at the moment the transfer is probably taking up a lot of bandwidth. So, with a better server and no transfer, it should be much faster.

Thank you Narzy and Swordz for your informative replies.
Swordz, from what I gather, are Zymic transferring their entire service over to new servers? What is involved with that?
I agree with you Narzy, I do think it's worth sticking it out and seeing how good this service can get. I've done some fairly extensive research on web hosting and and I've seen that Zymic, potentially, can offer the best service out there. It will be worth seeing what happens over the next month or so. Hopefully things will progress at a steady pace.
In answer to your question, I'm in Adelaide.

All of the vndv domains are being transferred. The old server host we had used bad disks (causing read-only periods followed by 3 hrs+ of downtime) and had very slow admins (it took them about a week to initiate this transfer, and the downtime 2 days ago was due to them messing up Jack's bill). It's been running for a while now, and *should* be finished soon (I'm not an admin, that's not a guarantee, and if we have more downtime, it'll be slowed down anyway).
Any more questions?
