It's good for a first template, alot better than what I can still do probably tongue.gif

My only complaints really are that the Your Site is really ugly and hard to read for me and it's just too plain and not enough colors... Sure this would be good for an army website, but not for most others.

Also, it's not very... unique.. I like unique.. I don't stick around on sites much if they're layouts look like most other websites too so I would change it up a bit and make it more unique...

But overall for a first layout I'd give it 7/10

For a layout in general I'd give it a 4/10 (but thats just me).

Still better than what I can do so good job wink.gif

As pointless as it may be I completely agree with every point Jetteh made, even the scores I say are pretty accurate.

Honestly, if you take the criticism with a grain of salt and keep practicing you'll be surprised how quick you'll be making layouts that are rated 9 and up.
Magnus
1/10.

Since we're going on ratings.

the blue part is overpowering. what if you darken it a little bit in order for
yhe dark gray header and your body will work in harmony... just a thought. smile.gif

try to use web 2.0 graphics and it might look better

Honestly, it's terrible. Take the crit and fight it. Prove us wrong!! That's where I find my inspiration. After someone trashes my long hours of hard work, I just want to prove them wrong!!! Take that and keep workin for it!

What I think you should do- Look around the web, compare your designs to what you see. Look closely, to the very last pixel. Try to replicate that but just to get technique. After you have the technique, go out to create your own style- as jetteh said, try to be unique.

One last thing, I think you should try to be less focused on trying to make everything complicated- adding styles to everything, gradients everywher... just be simple. Simplicity is key! Never try to make everything more complicated just to add more and more to it.

Good luck!

Wow how old is this thread! Jenie you really need to stop bumping old threads, this person last loged in on 15th September 2008 so he probably won't read what you guys have posted.
