I am attempting to learn php code and setup a webserver with php and a mail/ smtp server on my home machine. but i wanted to test the code with my friends so i needed to post it online.

on my computer when i use the @mail function in my php script the email goes through no problem. on this server (phonocraft.vndv.com) it returns false. does the free account not support smtp through php? what if i sign up for a premium account and pay for a domain name and emails? whould it work then?

use "http://phonocraft.vndv.com/sendmail.php" to view the piece of code of i trying to get to work.

If you use the flash file it stores a cookie that locks you out from sending another email. Thats what i want to see work. one email from each individual and no more than that.

thanks,
josh

mail is disabled on all free hosting accounts to prevent abuse. If you want to get it turned on you can pay a one time fee (for the life of your hosting account) of $5.

If you were to order premium hosting you wouldn't have any limitations of this kind.

What's the limit on sending mail after paying the $5?
NaRzY
Nothing. The PHP send mail function works forever and ever.

I have a mailing list of around 17000. Would I be able to use it for sending these people a message every 4 weeks?
Trippin7464
That's a question you'd have to ask an admin. With email lists that big there are more chances that people will forget they signed up to receive the email and will report it as spam, then marking the server as a spam server and then many email services will block emails from the server.

You're much better off going with a paid service.

I was kinda worried with that huge of a mailing list. It makes me think that it's for spamming. I hope I'm wrong.
Trippin7464
I don't think bezz would be spamming, he's got a pretty popular site.

Oh, okay. I'm glad I'm wrong. I just hate receiving spam in my email. happy.gif

Not spam. It's for the game bionightmare.com that I'd like to restart, but outgoing emails are being blocked. I've looked into paid email services, but they just aren't worth the cost per email.
