But listen -- I modelled my LEGO dude referring to an old LEGO police officer toy [black-&-white colour scheme; came along with a cute black-&-white cop car with a blue light on top; probably from the early-1980s] that I had as a kid and which I found after some a lot of searching

. I see from the images you posted that there are some small differences between your toy and the one I worked with. See image below:

Wow, I see from Googling for this image that this figure/toy is now 'rare'. Good thing I found it, eh?
Anyway, see the small difference in the dimensions of the
upper torso? There's a small height difference. That probably explains why my LEGO dude's legs seem short. But I will remain faithful to my childhood LEGO buddy and his dimensions [he's rare, after all
