Kk, so I am TRYING to install SMF onto my site. My site is : http://iowar.vndv.com
(Dont worry, the index is just someone else homepage for now, so I can view the site, otherwise i get an error)

I have everything uploaded via FTP. I double checked and made sure all files were there.
Now, I go onto the next step, which is to navigate to the installer.php file so it will install itself.
To do this, It tells me to go to http://iowar.vndv.com/Forum/install.php. I go there, and it comes
up. Yay! I fill everything out with my FTP information. This is where the problem comes in.
After filling out everything in, except the install path since its already there, I get the
error:

Unable to connect to FTP server with this combination of details.

Heres what i use for those settings:

Server: iowar.vndv.com/
Port:21
Username: iowar
Password: **********
Install Path: vndv.com/i/o/w/iowar/htdocs/Forum

Does anyone know what the problem is, and can help me solve it?
Am i using the right information? Thats how i connect to Filezilla FTP Client.

Also, my activation email never got sent to me for Zymic IoWar account, so I had to create another IsleOfWar just to post on these forums.
Is there a way an Admin or someone can Self Activate my IoWar account please? I dont know if it being unactivated is a result to the problem
above or not, but either way, I need it activated.

FTP via php scripts can't and will not work on Zymic servers. It is disabled.

Follow the instructions from SMF for manually CHMOD'ing your files and you should be able to install it just fine.

This also means that any extra mods you want to install won't work unless you can manually edit the files

oh really? can you link me to the file where it needs to be done so i can learn how to?

EDIT: Ok, I got all the files needed to be CHMOD'ed to 777 CHMODed. It was these files:

* attachments
* avatars
* Packages
* Packages/installed.list
* Smileys
* Themes
* agreement.txt
* Settings.php
* Settings_bak.php

After I have done that, what do I do?
Cause when I still go to http://iowar.vndv.com/Forum/index.php i get the error:

Bad Gateway

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
