PHP VERSIONS
this post like decision ...

When u work a web page using php 5.2.5 and want to publish it in free hosting plan u must choose the best hosting plan that support php 5.2.5 OR LOSE SOME expensive data and look Or it may not work at all....

but i think that hosting are much few and u will restricted to choose between limited ones.
Although, PHP 4 are discontinued supported from php.net from 31-2-2007

so what is the solution for these problem....
or in other words
Are the paid hosting periodically update there used version of php unlike the free one .....

thanks in advance
swordz
The most up to date version of PHP is currently 5.2.6, and Zymic is using it, and will (I'm sure) update when it gets updated.

I'm not sure what you're asking though.

HI swordz
i know that zymic support it
but what about the others
i means IS IT HARD TO FIND PHP5.2.5 SUPPORTED HOSTING....
because most hosting plan not mention the supported version
swordz
Probably not. As php is free, it's easy to update your files, so most hosts should do it, for security reasons if nothing else.

I have seen some hosts that specifically say they only have php4 on their free hosting plans, and only if you upgrade do you get php5. If you find a host like that, run. If they are using that as a marketing scheme, then I wouldn't trust their other business practices.

Hi
but if the hosting plan to upgrade from 4 to 5
then some will have problem as i read in abook that say
script written using php4 may not work good at server use php5

so i think this is problem that work against update
Andrew
I have a horrible time understanding you, but if you re-read my post, you notice I said STAY AWAY from those kind of hosts. They are ignorant.

TBH, I recently dropped 2 of my small paid hosting accounts on 2 different companies, because they had php4. And the stuff im coding i'd prefer to be doing with what comes with php5.

It gets annoying when you've made something, only for your host server to not know what you've done.

I have setup my virtual machine with PHP4.4.4 because this is the lowest version that I am still working with. All code works in my virtual machine, works in any of the host I need to sync with, including backward compaitability... so I'm really happy with my current setup.

Unfortunately, I don't get enough chance to practise with PHP5.x ... and PHP4 IS fading out evanturally...

Please folks, stop writing PHP4 code, it's not even supported any more and PHP5 is so much better. If your host doesn't support PHP5, they're not worth hosting with. wink.gif

Sometime you just don't have a choice.. most of my on going projects and the site I admin at work are all run on Apache2.0 + PHP4 + MySQL 4.1

It's either I loss my job, or like PHP4 = =;;;

on the other hand, 10% of my work load is personal project, which I have choice to use PHP5, but I didn't choose to because I'm lazy laugh.gif
