Ok, so I followed a tutorial to create a monitor, and added my desk to it, it's far from finished or nowhere near Machine's creatons, but C&C Please!

Not bad, the back of the shelf looks real to me, but the other parts need improvements.

Yeah noticed that, but the problem is that I don't even know how to measure everything properly etc, kinda sucks

if i had 3d studio max installed, I could look around. But you can actually set the size of your scene, so if you want it to be like every 100 pixels is an inch or something like that you can do it. Maybe I'm explaining it wrong, been years since i've been into the program but maybe machine can correct me or point you in the right direction. But I agree, it's a great start, just got to keep working on it.
I think maybe the lighting is causing the scene to look very fake, the front of the shelving is too bright compared to other parts, pull your light source back some as I think it's too close and is causing those hard shadows.

I'm assuming the shelf are made from glass since you can see through most of them. I think that you used too much lighting on the right side of the shelf (especially the first one). Other than that, excellent job for a first 3D. Measuring at first is a bit hard, but more you practice, the easier it gets. 3DS Max is a bit hard, just practice more and more. I think I'm going to re-install my version if I can find it.

Sazzad, i say your wrong, I think they look more like ceramic, or maybe just wood with that plastic covering crap on them, But definitely not glass. And read the first line of his post, it's not C4D
lmfao changed your post before I posted.

LOL I realized that after I posted. You beat my post by a few seconds. I say it looks like glass is because I have actually seen glass type like that. I'm a mechanical engineer so I deal with different type of materials including plastic, wood and glass.

Thanks for the comments all.
The lighting definatly needs improvement, still figuring out how I can make the scene more real by the use of lighting and materials.
And my desk actually looks like that, It's not supposed to look like glass, but more to what Trippin said

Hi there,
You done a really good job as you said its you first work.

I found its background board and right side shelf board are looks like real wood but the left side shelf boards need some more work.

well I have used trials of 3ds max before but never really had the chance to fully explore the program. one thing i kno is that the lighting if to bright may make things look transparent and i am not sure why, and second of all if you have something like a checker board it also makes it easier for light to make it look like it is transparent.
well good luck with it.

If you follow the tutorial given within the Help topics of this software, that can be your complete guide.

Needs ambient occulssion, and a more matt finish, relax the color intensity.
