Hi,

I've been working on a wordpress theme for most general subjects.

This is only my first wp design so I'm sure there will be lots of room for improvement.

Thanks,

I dont know..To me it looks like you've slapped a big halo image on and thats it.
The image doesnt blend in with the design of the wordpress. I think a darker coloured theme would suit the image more.
Plus what is the white box on the top right?

IT's a good first attempt but think you'd have a few more things to sort out though!

The Halo Images are just examples of posts, The one on the top next to a header is a featured post, sort of like the featured thumbnails here: http://www.haloninjas.com/concept/preview/index1.html but I may remove it if I can find something better to put in that area.

Are you talking above the 'Wordpress Attempt' text? If so, that's where I was going to try get a navigation in, though I've moved it just under the header now, going to see what the header looks like with just some photography in there too.
I'll upload a more recent image later wink.gif

I've changed the images to produce a more 'calm' feel to it. I'm still working on the sidebar etc.. So this one is an example of it being used for a photography blog.

Edit 2: Another alternate version, which do you guys think is more appealing?

I think it's very lite and friendly theme.. Like it! biggrin.gif

Couple of pointers from me:
- curly design of search button stands out too much from your overall theme
- what's the white box on top left corner?
- rss icon doesn't blend into your design
- perhaps 5 more px on the margin-left for your headers and paragraphs (to match with your right margin)

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm going to add another image (of the original) with your suggestions in.

But do you think I should have the side bar from the ones above your post or the same as the original?

Thanks,
Aaron

Edit: Alright, is this any better? http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/954/wp3uo9.jpg

better but the menu on the right seems a bit wide in comparison to the main content

btw does wordpress makes your entire site or can it be customized to only making your blog?
taolaga
I think your should use 3 columns for your design
And 3 columns at the footer

Thanks for the suggestions, I tried adding another column, IMO it just made everything too 'tight'

I've made the width of the sidebar smaller now though.

Any Better?

Plus, what do you mean by WP making the entire site? It's a Blog Software, I guess you could install it with no pages and link to it from a HTML or PHP page if that's what you mean.. Though you make pages in WP so I don't see why you would just link to a single page WP installation..

Thanks,
Aaron

WordPress is a content management system (CMS), it is well known for setting up a blogs out of box.
It is customizable like the way CMS should be. ie/ you can make it a website (non-blog) if you want.

Hope this answers your question. smile.gif

Just finish looking at all your revisions, and I can tell you very keen on this!

Here's my feedback on your latesting revision: wp4al6.jpg, it is just 'my opinion', not solution.

- I don't like gradient in content section. It doesn't go well with your 2 color theme in your background, navigation bar and RSS bar.
- article header should go 1 more px to the right, align with paragraph and image
- color scheme in your side bar (category and archive bits) need more styling to fit with your overall design
- it looks like you are using table (generated from dreamweaver?), make your cell border solid color (default has reflection-like effect)
- have you think of how your background going to be repeated?

Also, is this the first time you creating a template for WordPress? If so, have a play around with converting it to WordPress theme.

It's currently in PSD,

Content Gradient: So what do you think I do with that then? Remove the gradient and leave it blank or add something different there?
Article Header: Moved to align with other content
Sidebar Scheme: I'm still working on alternative ways to display widgets.
Border: How do you mean? like this? http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/835/wp52hx9.jpg
Background: The background is going to run from a CSS, without repeating and will blend into a solid colour under the image.

I have a few friends who can code for wordpress, I have no prior knowledge of wordpress coding so I highly doubt I will be able to do this myself. I'm just designing it and I'll be working with my mate with the coding part. (the HaloNinjas.com guy wink.gif)

Thanks for the suggestions,

I would perfer 1 color background, or really low opacity water mark.

Forget what I said = =; I thought you were using DreamWeaver while designing this.

Does this mean the circle in the right handside of the page will actually be a full circle if I stretch my browse in a dual screen (around 2560px width)?
