I'd have to say that's not necessarily true. For SEO it's more about the content of the page, the words on your site and how they relate with you keywords etc. I assume if you just started typing you might get some results, but I'd look more into SEO and learn more about it. It's not really about how much content you have. (Some may argue) SEO is really about what the content is, and how search engines will handle it.
Good Luck,

The range is in between 300 - 600 words, it is true however, you can have even more, not an issue. but just take care that whatever content you put on a website, should not include excessive keywords.

That amount is great for conversions. It allows you to create an effective sales presentation. You might want to read this article. It references keyword density and it should be your SEO guide on this topic.

I'm not sure about this but I believe as long as your content is of good quality and relevant to your keywords, it will just do fine.

I don't understand why people would say there is a limit, that doesn't make sense. No search engine is going to penalize a site for not having the right amount of words. As mentioned, it's all about the content, not the amount of words. Plus there are other factors besides the content of the page.

By no. of words they just mean that there should not be much blank space on the web page. It doesn't mean that it must filled with words scattered here n there; rather it implies that it should contain enough words to give a finished and complete look.
