The vndv.com server is having some maintenance performed and during this time you might encounter permission denied errors or the inability to create / modify or remove files and directories.

I get a 403 Forbidden message when going to my site using my own domain, but it still works while using vndv. Is this related?

I don't know if its allowed to post in here but How long does the maintenance need? 1day is already over, what means that it usually takes more than 1 day.....and this really sucks....Do you do the maintenance every week or month?

maybe. I could access my website and upload some stuff during the maintenance, but i couldn't rename/delete or move my files. But now the vndv server is down and we have to wait till they boot it up again

Gotcha. I was just getting my forum up and going this morning when I could no longer access the site. I then see this post and was just making sure it was the server and not something I did.

still i cannot change the permission of chmod in my site folders:)

No wonder I can't do anything with the folder I uploaded. And I can't remove them or CHMOD them either. Will somebody be able to make the necessary adjustments for me? account is at rm2media.vndv.com folder is 'cms' . Will be glad to have that folder chmodded or deleted altogether. Other files were ok.

I can connect to the forum, the FTP connection is working fine. The only issue I have is uploading into my forum folder. (It works fine when I tried to upload the files outside that folder).

I can upload new files with FTP but it will not let me update my html pages.

so is this why the ftp is not working?

I can upload files to the main directory, but I can't upload files to specific folders, delete or move them. It's been 5 days now...I'm hoping "maintenance" is over soon.

Try using the web-based file manager zymic provides and then ftp. It worked for me.

Almost 15 days I cann't delete or upload files to my server.

Uploading using the web based manager works, however when trying to go to my website, http://nycap.us.to/index.html, it doesn't work without the "index.html" part, however it used to in the past.

I mentioned that in my first post in this topic but it hasn't been addressed.

Seems this maintenance has done something with our owner IDs, or whatever it is supposed to be on the FTP

The files that are marked with owner, in my case, 71070, I cant do anything with, edit/rename/delete.
These were uploaded before the maintenance.
The other files, uploaded after the maintenance, marked with 92051, I can work normally with.


Don't know if this is intended and is supposed to work or not, but I thought I would let you know.

I've noticed that as well, you'd think that someone sabotaged the system or something.

I think I figured out what the problem is.
The server / the people running it changed the owner # of some of the files (at least some of mine), and with Safe Mode on they cannot access other files. An example is my news updating file, which cannot edit "news.txt" because of Safe Mode.
I also have been experiencing difficulty modifying and uploading files because "permission [is] denied". I can still create text files, but trying to upload returns various errors.

I'm glad as well that I checked here though, 'cuz I had a mind to start looking for a new host. Hope the maintenance is finished soon.

Upload home-page can't be www. View.
But can the non-www.'s Web site, see the upload page update.
Therefore, the Web site home page can't be displayed now upload content.
Why?
Is the relationship between the maintenance of it?

When I try Uploading to update my stuff. All it does is upload the files in the directory, yet strangely these updates don't show up when access the file via URL (eg, index.html had the words "hello", uploaded new one that replaced "Hello" to "hi". typed in the URL still the same thing, but the file inside the FTP and the WEB based File manager Remains the same)

i am also getting the same "PERMISSION DENIED " error , somehow the previously uploaded (older) dirs and files has a different owner name, and the recently uploaded ones has a newer owner name, so i am also unable to upload/rename/delete/chmod any of those older files/directories. this has caused quite a problem , and i hope that it would be rectified soon...


zymic has been a source of inspiration to students like me, who would like to work but are unable to gather the expenses required for paid services.
And i believe that zymic will continue to be that inspiration.

I think that all of us would appreciate some words from the administrator - it is quite frustrating not knowing what is happening and not being able to delete and modify files!

I've finally finished coding my website on my desktop and cannot upload it to make sure the PHP code works... And there are a few people waiting for me to upload it...

Btw- FTP permissions not working for me, nor are the zymic editor. When I click to do anything on the site's editor, it doesn't seem to respond at all...

Does anyone know of any good alternatives for free hosting?

Listen guys, I know it's frustrating having hosting and not being able to use it to the fullest, but the problem lies within the code for the server. It's not something the admins can just *fix*. There are alot of problems with the server and fixing one issue has caused other issues to arise. Calm down and give it time and it will be resolved.

If your DESPERATE for hosting, you can buy hosting. It's definitely not expensive. Zymic also partnered with Lunarpages and offers a great deal if you go with them, so if you need hosting that bad check them out.
