Hey guys/girls,

It's been a while since I have had any time to design new templates. Recently we've had a staff meeting over at Shrud about the release date and we have decided to launch it before the new year. Because of that deadline, we were forced to work on new templates for downloads. While designing, Colin (flyboy) and I have realized how we lack "effects" in the designs are going to offer, thus we created a division of Shrud Studios called Pure Team. The purpose of this team is to create layouts with javascript enhanced effects. So as a designer for this team, I created a very simple layout based on a nice design I saw on the web (forgot the link sorry). If you can, please C&C on these two versions of the same design and choose which you like best (and if possible give a reason as to why).

Damn that's nice!

The only thing I would change is the title. Maybe to match the site colors more.

Actually the logo uses only two colors: the grey on the header and the green on the navigation. So which do you like more? I'm not sure why but the second version does not show the custom sidebar.

I love your dropdown, i use to use one before... but i love the way you made it look with the transparency... its sexy tongue.gif

Thanks Garo, so I assume you like the second one better.

You know how i love to have website previews so you can check what the website will do... on top of that you added a nice feature... correctly.
IamShipon1988
Well that live preview is pretty good for a website preview I think. The other pages will basically have similar effect. I left it open to the users to do what they wish with the header. I think for the other pages, they should just take the center green rectangle and use that as the header.

Ok here's a problem I noticed,

What I wanted to do with the search portion of this layout is that when the visitor clicks on the input box, it will clear all current content. I thought the code I added would achieve it but in this case it did not (I'm assuming because of the codes I already have in there). Can someone help.

CODE
<input type="text" name="search" class="search" value="Run A Search!" onfocus="clearField(this)" onblur="setField(this)" />

Could it be because I didn't use the form tags? If I do use them, it will not validate.
MrTouz
Well, i suggest using the form tags to start with... see if it runs... if the form runs that yea... its the <form> tag... but since when form tags can't be validated ? Is it because xHTML ? f#?& one more reason not to use this crap ! tongue.gif

Btw i authorized my self to look at your source for your html version... but i also saw the terms of service popup which i find even more great !!! very good Javascript integrations !
swordz
I use form tags in XHTML - so it's not that.

Well I did add the FORM tags but yet no luck and right away it did not validate.

this is a cool site! great work! keep it up!

Thanks Jenie!

I don't see the difference between the two other than the dropdown.

And for someone wanting to add javascript effects you didn't even add simple JS code to take away the content of the search box when clicked?

The dropdown is nice, but really whats the point. Doesn't seem to fit with the site. Why would they have a message?
IamShipon1988
The design of this layout is for member based sites. So when a member logs in, the site can tell weather there was a new announcement made, if they are not registered then they should register, or if they have a new pm. I did add JS code to remove content from search however...oh oops sorry inserted a wrong value for the if statement. Ok problem is now fixed.
