Hey,

I have set up a forum and whenever I refresh the page, it loads all the stuff again including images. I have allowed my browser to store cache and the limit is 100 MB. I raised it from 50 MB to 100 MB ! Still the same problem. And I'm using Firefox !

This way, the whole bandwidth will get eaten away very quickly. What's wrong ? Why can't I store cache ?

This is my site's address: http://smartflight.vndv.com/forum/index.php

The point of refresh is that it doesn't use the cache - it checks the whole website again, to see if anything has changed.

Unless I'm not understanding you?

Oh !

Thanks. I got that.

But some sites are like this stuff will be checked and that stuff won't be checked. How do we do that ?
I mean to say A, B and C tables will be refreshed while D, E and F tables don't change so they will be loaded from cache!

I know how to do the whole site, but not individual parts of a site.

I wouldn't worry about bandwidth, if your site uses up all the bandwidth zymic gives you then it's time to put some advertisements on your site to earn money to buy paid hosting.

Even if your site was 100kb including images your site could be views 500,000 times.

If your site used a whole 1mb your site could still be viewed 50,000

And that is in a month.

Good idea..but I don't want my site to be built with ads..

Still thanks. I might use your idea someday !
Andrew
Well even without ads, you won't have that kind of traffic for a long time.

Hey there again,

Well, if I restart my browser, it loads all the stuff again including images. It's eating up my bandwitdth.

Do you have any idea how do we disable reloading of all the images and just checking if there's an update on the server without refreshing every single thing on the site ?

And yeah, I did find some settings to enable "caching". But SMF (Simple Machine Forums) says - SMF has not been able to detect a compatible accelerator on your server.

Well, I enabled caching at level 1. I'll post when I test it!

How large is your site? Zymic gives you a huge amount of bandwidth...

As an Admin, I have to login again and again through out the day. So alone, I'm using using around 3-7 MB per day right now.
swordz
So your site will be fine for over 5000 views per month at your usage.

I think you'll be fine. And if you're not, you should be thinking about paid hosting.

Fine.

But people here in India have very slow connections and I myself would suffer reloading the whole thing again and again.
Any solution to that ?
