I just installed smf but i can't install mods. The possible reason is because i can't access ftp via the web page.. There something wrong with ftp connection i guess.. I can't upload the mod packages it shows me a incorrect or corrupt package error in all mods.

Accessing ftp through a web page is not allowed. For installing mods for smf, you'd be better off with installing them manually.

what? why? I think it should be enabled because installing mods manually it's quite a mess.. You have to upload every fies and folder of the mods, then edit some php files manually.. and uploading many files could last a lot longer than uploading a single zip files and smf doing the rest for you.

Well honestly this is how mods used to have to be installed, and people got by just fine.
It's been disabled for a reason, you can ASK jack if there is any way to enable it for your site only, but it will probably cost money.

Ok, will try to talk to him.. but allowing only uploading to ftp via browser would be great.
Also i think all these restrictions because of the abusers are really annoying.. 1st Fsockopen then ftp..
Why do we always have to pay for the stupidity of others..?
