Full Version: Remote Connection To Mysql Using External Client App

Hi there,

I would like to connect to my MySQL database on ZYMIC, using my development IDE on my desktop - instead of using the hosted PhpAdmin utility which is provided by the ZYMIC control panel.

First of all...Is this permitted?

And if so, how does one go about granting the necessary privileges to allow this to happen?

I use TOAD for MySQL as my development IDE on my desktop, and have tried to connect through TCP, SSH and HTTP Tunnel methods - all of which fail, and I get the following when trying the straight TCP method - 'Host 'dummy.blah.com' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server'. I have tried granting connect privileges, but do not have root privileges to do so. SSH terminal sessions appear to be forbidden.

I am starting to think my only option is to use Zymic's hosted PHPAdmin utility, as a development IDE.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Brad,

This is correct, no remote connections are permitted to the MySQL server; phpMyAdmin and phpMiniAdmin should be ample.

You can find them both under the control panel, phpMyAdmin as 'phpMyAdmin' and phpMiniAdmin as 'phpMyAdmin Alternative'.

Additionally, there is no shell account access.
