Anyone else here tried the latest build of Firefox 3.0?
I have Alpha 8 Minefield installed and had only 2 problems (with animated PNG)
Other than that i like the new features* and better engine. (graphics really do look prettier!)

Tried one of the alphas, just to see if the new Gecko engine really passed the acid2 test finally (it did).

In truth, it's not out. It's not even in it's Beta. It's before that lol. Personally, I HAVE tried it and see no difference between it and Firefox 2.0 except the name. So it's too early to say what it'll be like. Chances are, it may not be released fully until next year.

Really? I read somewhere that it was supposed to be out already, but was delayed.
EDIT: November (estimated): Firefox 3 released, Firefox 2.0.x.y supported for next six months

So now Mozilla are releasing a new release every six months? Christ, they're turning into Linux LOL. IMO, it does not take six months to improve software. It should take more -- this either means they rushed it or they're still wondering when to release it. November isn't that far away.

I can see why you say that, there's nothing new or amazing with it really, why the need to update? Instead, they should take their time and try to cram in as much updates as possible.

Hmmm? Linux generally releases kernels much more frequently (sometimes several in one day - though the 2.6.X releases are much more spaced out). I think you might be looking for "Ubuntu".
benje: you poor poor person. Anything's better than that: Firefox, Opera, Safari, anything!

How could you still be in IE... Just do this.. download firefox... use it for a few min.. and you'll realize how much faster and stable it is then IE
Alex
Sep 20 2007, 05:05 PM
Firefox isn't really the fastest about, especially from a cold start - but that's not what the main advantages of it are. With Firefox you have:
- An open source browser supporting open standards
- Amazing extensibility (addons, themes, etc)
- A more compliant browser (especially with Gecko 1.9 in FFox 3.0)
- etc...
(note: these are targeted as being advantages over IE, there are more compliant rendering engines out there)
Help to get the web moving, ditch IE.

Well first of all theres a whole new engine, and re-built from the ground up. Tho, it may look the same, SINCE IT IS A ALPHA, it has a huge list of changes and rewrites.
Thats why im running both side by side for comparison.

Used the Alpha version when it was out a couple of months ago, it wasn't very good with Ajax I think. I was testing it and Safari at the time and one of them kept messing up with Ajax, I think it was Firefox.
