Im looking for some constructive feedback for a website that I have just finished building. The website was built for my girlfriend who basically wanted a medium to publish her university publications and general blog/style rants.

The website has been built using php and mysql as well as some jquery for visual effects. Its not powered by wordpress or any other software available online, its all my own doing. I probably should have just skinned wordpress as it would have saved me time and less earache ha.

Anyway that said, what would you recommend I do to improve the website and the readers experience. The idea is to keep the readers coming back to read new posts.

Visit the website here.

Thanks in advance.

I must admit... the coding must of been really hard.

The layout itself is really nice, very unique. For me.. personally, everything goes well all together. One thing i would mention is 'it's kind of hard to read' kind like hard on the eye.

Don't have anything to suggest. The site already looks attractive. The only thing that the Titles on the right panel are bigger and getting out of the design (Publications, Blogs, Links, Adertisement). Just fix these things and your site is ready to boost.

MrTouz, do you mean the headings and tabs? if so that font was used to try create a hand written effect. I can read it quite easily, however its important that everyone can comfortably read it, so i'll look for some alternatives.

Robdale, thanks for pointing the text problem out. That only occurred when Javascript is turned off. The sifr plugin expands the text for some random reason, so i've amended my css to compensate. That should be fixed now.

Anymore feedback??

when i mean hard to read... it's more overall hard to read. Fonts are cool but for the left nav... i have to bend on one side to read it. And it is hard to distinguish from the header title to the h1 tag (i suppose its h1).

I would not change anything to be honest... im just picky.

Unlike MrTouz, I can read it almost perfectly.

I like the layout a lot - it's pretty elegant yet simple enough.

You're google ad's are unobtrusive and I barely noticed them.

The look and feel goes well, stick with it smile.gif

Hey Gibbons,

The titles like Hello and Welcome, Latest Publication looks a bit big. Also, see if you can get a bar in between the Title of your blog and Hello and Welcome.
