I know that fsockopen and curl have been disabled for security reasons. I also see that majority of people using the free hosting are using it to host forums.
I am trying to host a wordpress blog and use the askimet and stat plugins with it.
These plugins need to verify the API key for which they use sockets.
Is there a work around for this or is it that I will have to live without these plugins?

From what I have heard you can't use those plugins i would search google to see if there are other plugins that may have an alternate method
