make sure your home page is called index.html with all lowercase lettering.
cas
I'm encountering that as well, it seem no one is keen to help us
swordz
None of you have given us ANY information to allow us to help you.

The forum rules require you to post your url - it's the only way we know which sites to check.

Ok mine is http://eweb.uuuq.com
swordz
You've installed the files at http://eweb.uuuq.com/www/joomla/, which is why they're not showing up when you go to your sites root.

You need to install/configure it first, then it should work.

Hello there!
Had the same problem, solution found!
cas you had a host http://eweb.uuuq.com registered by zymik. You uploaded files of joomla site to this host. You simply transfered www/ folder from your local host (your pc) to eweb.uuuq.com host and you're trying to open site. The problem is the site files are located not directly at eweb.uuuq.com folder, they are located at eweb.uuuq.com/www/joomla/ folder. So to open your site you need to type the address http://eweb.uuuq.com/www/joomla/, provided by swordz. If you want to see your site using direct link http://eweb.uuuq.com, you have to delete all files from host and upload root joomla files without www and joomla folder.
You can see my example http://namedrive.uuuq.com/antispy. I was too lazy and copied a full my folder antispy to host http://namedrive.uuuq.com, so now I need to type additional directory /antispy at the end of my link. All subfolders and files contained in antispy folder I need to copy directly.
Using http://eweb.uuuq.com/www/joomla/ link I could see errors, but that's another topic, PM me or ask directly, will try to help, had the same.
Enjoy wink.gif

Ok.... what about the installation folder and install.php? Is that required? Cos we were ask to delete it once we setup the joomla CMS before hitting the site
Schreier
Installation folder should be deleted when the site asks as for install.php dunnow I didn't delete it, because installation will start again and again. As for me i'm using virtual server at my desktop and i'm installing joomla at my PC, then simply transfer files to host. But some changes need to make in configuration.php

An error has occurred.:Cookies do not appear to be enabled on your browser client. You will not be able to install the application with this feature disabled. Alternatively, there could also be a problem with the server's session.save_path. If this is the case, please consult your hosting provider if you don't know how to check or fix this yourself.
cas
Oh yar btw i used to get the following error due to a failed file transfer
QUOTE
libraries/openid/changes-2.1.0
wondering is it a restriction or security issue on our webhost

The issue would occur whether i'm uploading using ftp or through apache stuff like wammp stuff
Schreier
Hi dude!
Seems to be had the same, but errors were at lines 92, 95 ...Ok. You should find the file session.php. Located libraries/joomla/session
Open this file using notepad or another (I'm using Notepad++) Find the lines 102, 105, 682
I suppose there should be such commands as
ini_set('session.save_handler', 'files');
ini_set('session.use_trans_sid', '0');
Maybe other. And you need to add before each command symbol @
Like this @ini_set('session.use_trans_sid', '0');
I suggest you download the file session.php then make changes and then upload it again to host instead old one. Then try to install joomla again.

Someone mention i might be due to
QUOTE
the host appears to have disable some PHP session settings in their server configuration, you will need to discuss this problem with your host to resolve these errors
was mention by someone in another forum

Btw could it be due to phpMyAdmin on localhost and remotehost? Or the configuration.php which i have yet to set or change anything yet
Schreier
Cas, try follow my steps, it helped me. I guess nobody won't give any additional permissions for free.

So do i download the libraries/joomla/session from the webhost i've uploaded earlier on?
cas
Ok i managed to loacte the session.php which i extract it into a folder on the desktop earlier on. But then the lines and commands are so many and are confusing..... i try and see how it goes wacko.gif

So ur opinion is to download from the file manager which i've uploaded earlier on instead of using the desktop copy?
cas
So i just set all the ini with @? I'm not too sure what you mean by lines 102, 105, & 682

Hey Schreier appreciate for your help, just a thought, i was told by someone after taking a look of my screen shot of the error i've attach and mention that our host server configuration has disable some PHP session functions and It is caused because a file is trying to use a PHP function. Am i right about that? rolleyes.gif

Could i open the session.php from the original files and edit from there then next upload to the webhost and overwrite it? Cos i'm not too sure how to download the existing session.php from the file manager. I only knew how to upload it, lol rolleyes.gif
